There was a 'FlyerTalk' page on farecompare.com. The page is still there; unfortunately the tool isn't.

I think I used it once and then it was gone. I'd love to have something similar.

Yes, Travelocity did have something of an MR tool, but it was nowhere near as helpful as FareCompare's. Why FareCompare went away, I never knew, and I still wonder. Can only hope that the one we are being told to expect will be something like what was there before. I could really, really use it right now.

When do you think a beta will be ready?

mikelat Jan 19, 2015 3:28 pm

I'm curious - why post a thread without anything ready or details about when something may be? I like the idea of the tool coming back but would really appreciate real info on what it'll do and when it'll be available at least for testing.

Farecompare, I think.

The link was http://www.farecompare.com/products/...flyertalk.html

They claimed they had to take it down because it was too complicated to make it show the fare including all taxes and fees. They were not selling tickets or pushing to a booking engine so doubt they were subject to that all-in fares regulation. It was merely a sortable list of all base fares filed so you didn't have to query a GDS for every possible city pair.

any update on progress?

Fescue7 Apr 21, 2015 11:08 pm

Kinda curious as to what happened in development.

Progress by whom? Is anyone working on the development of such a tool, one that FareCompare gave us in the past? I found that to be very useful in suggesting possibilities and greatly miss it. Didn't understand the suggested explanation of why if it was up an running as it was, why it was too much to continue it.

But alas. (Or is there something else like FareCompare out there for us who would like to have something as simple and straightforward again?)

Major airlines killed MRs ... why build such a site ?
