Question: If I use my US Airways FF Number, will I still earn US Airways miles on this, which will later convert to AA miles? It should work that way right?

No one knows - you'll have to wait and see. US is expected to leave Star Alliance on 3/1 (not confirmed). If that's true, it's very doubtful you'll earn US miles for a UA flight after that date.
