seems like a huge fare sale to Brazil. Similar fares are available from many cities including HNL to GIG for $1006.

This is a solid deal. If anyone can make it work for Carnival in Rio for next year 2/9-2/12 then definitely get it booked

That's not probably not going to happen but good luck. The cheapest flights to Rio I've seen during that time were around $1000.

I tried for Thanksgiving weekend (leaving Thursday and return Tuesday) and the best I could find was $818 ai. That also would involve a G3 or JJ flihgt from GIG to GRU and then connecting back to AA to JFK for the return.
