It's just not the same since Frangos were outsourced to Pennsylvania, and then Fields got carjacked by Macys.

At least Fannie May came back from the dead. Where are they made now?

Utah, IIRC.

Chicago still has a strong body of locally made deserts (Blommer's Chocolate, Peerless Candy, Eli's Cheesecake, Canady le Chocolatier, Vosges Haut-chocolat, etc.)

I used to love driving past Blommers...now, for whatever reason, the smell grosses me out.

I think they are an offshoot of the South Bend Chocolate company but, if memory serves, they do make the "Chicago" product locally.

Blommer's also manufactures in Ontario, Canada now.

The Choc cafe series is from SBN Choc company- good stuff and their diabetic chocs ROCK! Their fruit plate is good too, just ask for the strawberries on the side, as they tend to turn into a brick...And if you don;t like whip cream, pay attention and ask for it w/o.

My favorite is made up north a bit- what about Long Grove Chocs?

IMHO the South Bend Chocolate's equivalent of the Frango mint is better than the original.
