Decent Deep Dish in O'Hare?
 

Good morning all.

I have two hours in ORD this Friday going from DCA to XNA. It'll be around lunchtime. I was going to grab my usual torta from Tortas Frontera but I've been craving pizza and was wondering if there is any deep dish in O'Hare worth going to? A quick Google search didn't leave me too much hope.

Google was correct.

Reggio's is the only deep dish choice at ORD. I'm not a fan of deep dish so haven't eaten there but I haven't heard good things. See also:

If you can get into United Club, you can order individual Chicago style stuffed pizza from Giordano's. Not technically "deep dish", but close enough for most people, and is definitely Chicago original.

Thanks for the input everyone. It seems like I'll need to plan a quick trip to Chicago to get my deep dish fix.

Am I wrong, or would a legit, sit-down deep dish place do well at O'Hare? With its passenger numbers and level of connecting traffic I would think it would make sense. Plus with all three domestic terminals connected post-security everyone could go.

That does look good, but sadly I'm connecting on AA through Terminal 3. And don't have United Club access. Thanks though! I'll look out for it next time I'm in town.

Getting the appropriate equipment may be a problem, not sure. But the bigger issue is that a real deep dish (which most of us Chicagoans don't normally eat), take about 30-45 minutes to cook and requires a fork, and I'm guessing that's the part where an airport doesn't make as much sense...for the most part it's not a fast-serve, on-the-go product.

Decent deep dish pizza is an oxymoron. It doesn't exist and isn't pizza.

Well, at this point, it's more of a tourist attraction than a local preference.

I have had Lou Matnati's, and have taste buds and taste. Pizza is flat and crispy - not a pile of doughy mess. It may serve a purpose, but it isn't pizza!!!

O'Hare is just bad in general. Barely any decent food.

Even after some of the "newer" additions (Tortas Frontera, Wicker Park Sushi, The Publican, etc.) this is sadly still true for an airport of it's size and the number of passengers it services.

If you're willing to go back through TSA after eating, the restaurant in the onsite Hilton is very good.
