Food Options @ O'Hare
Based in Chicago with over 20 years of business travel, Chicago O'Hare is/has officially the worst food options. Shame on you Rahm!!!! Complete embarrassment! Rahm, I suggest you make a visit to DFW and see what they're doing for the traveler.

There are plenty of airports with worse food options than ORD. DFW options look nice as you're walking through, but stop and actually try the food -- I've had some surprisingly mediocre BBQ.
|
There's far, far worse trust me. I actually like the sandwiches at Billy Goat Tavern and at least there's McDonalds for a quick grab n' go plus other places for sandwiches to take on the plane and plenty of other fast food type options. Trust me, it's better than CLT to name just one.

Well...my business travel takes me to LGA, CLT, DCA, IAD, and few others that make O'Hare seem like a foodie's paradise by comparison. Some ORD terminals are better than others, but overall it's pretty average food-wise.

At DFW, terminal E is pretty pathetic as far as food goes (dickey's bbq is meh, the mexican place is always over-crowded, the TGIF down the way never seems to be open, and the food courts are lame - they do have Haagen Dazs, though, if you're a UA flyer and willing to walk). The AA terminals are much better, admittedly.
LGA is nothing to write home about, although I'm a sucker for Mexijoe's carnitas tacos on corn tortillas with a cold bottle of Jarritos, and 5 guys is always decent if extremely slow. But what do they have otherwise? Jet's bar and Grill? NY Sports bar and grill? The generic Chinese place? Meh... ORD does have some pretty solid options, though. I'm a fan of Berghoff, like Billy Goat for a quick cheeborger or brat, and love the Goose Island Marisol at Tortas Frontera. and I admit, I also like the hot dogs at America's Dog. I know, not particularly high-brow. |
I can attest that the Chili's in lowly T2 is very fast and certainly no worse than any other Chili's (FWIW).

(bolding mine) Disagree, I gladly look forward to grabbing a meal at the 3 Tortas Frontera places (O’HARE: T1/B11, T3/K4, T5/M12) by Rick Bayless.

Luckily, Rahm isn't in charge of food services at ORD. If he was, we'd have a napkin tax, a silverware fee, and a permit required to use the seating...

I always stop at Tortas Frontera on my way through ORD...and I try to schedule flights so I'll be there at mealtimes. :)

All the food I've had at DFW is mediocre at best and borderline scary if in the yet to be renovated sections. I usually eat in the Centurion Lounge...the food is a lot better.
Tortas Frontera at ORD is the only meal I ever look forward to any any airport. I even am half tempted to fly Frontier solely to get a taste of the new T5 concessions. |
