I thought this was odd too, but when I stopped to think I realized that every print-at-home ticket I've ever used had to be exchanged at the theater for a "real" ticket - even if it was just the ticket taker scanning my home-printed ticket, printing tickets on the spot, tearing them in half, and handing them to us. Weird.

But, not at the airport, where my pre-printed BP works just fine. Odd indeed.

Watched Up in the Air a few days ago at Showplace Icon. Only sat in regular seats and was pricey $12.50.

Here is what I noticed: Muvico Rosemont with their mixed Premier and regular seating theater, only has 5 rows of Premier seats, with many rows of regular seating. This allowed regular seating to have a decent eye level view of the screen. On the other hand, you really have to select the first row of Premier seats so that you are not too high up over the screen.

Showplace has almost equal the number of rows between regular and VIP. I had to look up at the screen from the regular seats.

I would prefer Muvico still for both, price point wise and seating wise.

And agree about lack of steps to parking. Will cause a jam during peak weekend shows

Right, I was just talking about movie theaters. Perhaps we've found an industry that is even more backwards than commercial aviation? :)

I had to go to the theater to get tickets last week, as the online seating maps were not working. No big deal, however, I got to drive around the parking garage in the day when it was empty.

When you enter, you have to turn right. If you head back to the exit, you'll see a door that is marked Do Not Enter. Enter. This is the north garage, and has an elevator that takes you right into the theater ticket area. No need to go outside, but you do need to break a rule or two to get there.

There may be a different way in there, but I didn't see it.

Finally made it to the ICON on Roosevelt yesterday. Love the place. Still free parking (but it appears to be the only business open) and the signage for parking is well marked. I think they have 15 or 16 theaters open now. The afternoon matinee is still $10.00. To get the $7.50 (I think) price, you need to get there before noon.

One think we noticed yesterday (coincidentally, given today's news) is the Vdara death ray effect in the plaza in front of the theater entrance mid-afternoon - we couldn't figure out why it was so HOT right there. Then we looked up and saw how the sun reflected off the windows above. When we emerged, same thing, several feet over. :D

Oh, forgot to mention that it sure beat AMC River East and/or 600 N. where it is $16.00 or more to park.

Not to mention no kids allowed after 7pm. :)
