Oman visa on arrival for US/UK citizens still?
This internet is very unclear on this. Some sources say you can still get visa on arrival if arriving by air, others say you need to apply online in advance. Can anyone here put this to rest for me. We are 1 US citizen and 1 UK citizen. Thanks!

There is no more visa on arrival
You need to apply for an e-visa online through Royal Oman Police |

Yes, you can obtain a visa on arrival, but it costs 1 Omani rial more than the e-visa.

Well, if you don't want to believe random tripadvisor posts, you don't have to.

are you sure? Some info indicates they discontinued VOA.
I can categorically inform you that on my last visit, a month back, the VOA desks were doing brisk business. Of course things can change from one day to the next. So advice based on my last visit could be misleading The US and Canadian governments' advice from their embassies in situ could be wrong. IATA and TIMATIC could be wrong United States of America (USA) - Oman (OMN) 22 Jun 2019
You could look at the US Gov travel site yourself: https://travel.state.gov/content/tra...ages/Oman.html U.S. citizens should apply for tourist visas in advance via the Royal Oman Police E-Visa website. Tourist visas (including 2-year multiple entry visitor visas) are also available upon arrival at airports and land crossings Or the Canadian government's advise: https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/oman Canadians must have a visa to visit Oman. You can obtain and pay for a visa upon arrival at Muscat International Airport. You can also obtain a visa on-line. Obtaining your visa before arriving would allow you to avoid delays. |
Just trying to be sure. I'd prefer on arrival. Want to make sure I don't show up for my flight and get IDB'd because no e-visa. Thx.

Note that the USA government's information regarding entry into foreign countries is neither authoritative nor binding. The same is true for the UK, which sets the standards for entry into the UK only. |
I traveled to Oman this past January. I attempted an e-visa, but after sending 3 versions of a photo (meeting 'passport quality'), I gave up as every time a message came back as the photo not being acceptable. I just ate the cost of the failed e-visa and obtained a VOA. It was very fast noting that it was 2 AM in Muscat. (USC BTW)

You asked. If you prefer to go with the first, misleading, reply; fine.

We have used the Omani VOA repeatedly this year — even before and after reports of its demise — so stories of it being dead remind me of stories about Boris Johnson being targeted by a RIRA plot using nerve agents of the sort beloved by Russia. |

Airline's tend to rely of information provided by Timatic rather than random jottings by odd folk on the internet. You might do the same. If you are still worried, stop searching for a definitive answer. Just get a visa online. You'll be able to sleep at night and save OMR 1. |

I think only a nutter would expect a sovereign state to comply with the pronouncements of the US government in this area. Even in the Times of Trump :) |
FWIW - The e-visa process is relatively simple, cheap ($12.99) and we got our e-visas within 24 hours.
