Connecting T1 to T3 at DXB, different airlines
 

Flying from LHR to DXB and arriving at 2345 on BA (T1 arrival) and bought a separate ticket on EK departing at 0215 from T3. From what I now understand BA will not interline the baggage with EK and thus I must reclaim my checked baggage and recheck in with EK.

Question: is this remotely possible with a 2 1/2 hour connection in DXB? (I really didn't want to sit in the DXB airport for eight hours and the next connection)
