I love the anchor bar. They are the original, and IMO the best. The pizza there borders on disgusting (ok, it tips over into disgusting). Starbucks! No no, go to Tim Horton's, Catman. The local joke is you could build a Tim Horton's next to a Tim Horton's here and they'd both make money. It is probably true. :p
GUWonder, it may be a matter of what you are used to, but I would disagree with your statement. I too travel a great deal and Buffalo restaurants do not suffer when compared to restaurants in other American cities. For chicken wings, in Amherst, I would also suggest Duff's, many think they are superior to Anchor Bar (myself included) Here's a good restaurant resource: http://artvoice.com/menus |

Buffalo has its share of nice restaurants--much more than a city of similar size in my opinion. I find Hutches on Delaware avenue to be very good along with a few places on elmwood avenue near Buffalo state College. I beleive one of them is an italian place/martini lounge....it was very good.
For wings, anchor bar may have invented them, but thumbs up to Duffs for the best--its a grease pit, but the wings are dam good. Gabriel's gate on allen street downtown has damn good ones as well. |
