I'm fying from DCA for the first time next month. Its an early morning Saturday flight. How/where is parking, and how early should I arrive?

I have not used DCA since it reopened; and I am not sure if any of the parking lots are charged because of 9/11. But there are lots, and DCA is primarily a "weekday" airport. You should not have a bit of trouble parking in one of the garages on an early Sat. morning. There are shuttle buses from all the lots to the main terminals. They come by very frequently. Be sure and note where you left your car! Smallworld PS You can also take the metro right to the terminal if you prefer.

I flew on the shuttle about a week ago. Oarking is the same (just much less crowded). Security is much tighter but the lines were short as not many people were in the airport (remember that less than 50% of the flights are operating. I arrived an hour early for the shuttle which was fine.

I've flown out of DCA 3-4 times since 09/11. Security is ridicuously thorough, but doesn't take long. Arriving two hours before your flight will get you to the gate 1.5 hours before your flight.

Parking has not changed. You can still park in the daily garage. The top level is almost always empty, and you can park right next to the entrance.

I still think the nicest deal for DCA parking is at nearby 5 min away SUNPARK, on about 28th street beside the Hyatt. Approx 7 dolla/day and cheaper for longer stays. Your car is safe too. Fast pickup at your car and usually 5-10 min after you call upon return. Some info and coupons at www.sunpark.com

I have never used any of the DCA lparking ots after discovering these nice efficient guys.

On a day trip I would park in the garage, as recommended.

On an extended trip, I would use Sunpark. Shuttle from the outter lots during the old busy weekdays took a very long time. Old terminal required stairs for some stops. do not know about new terminal.

Sunpark is fast, and will move heavy luggage from car to van, and van to curb. No stairs.

My trip is only 1 night, so I think the garage sounds best. How much does it cost?

Hi: I just went to the airports website ( It is www.metwashairports.com I think) and parking rates are

Daily $5 per hour or $14 max for 24 hr.
Economy $1 per hr or $7 max for 24 hr.

Hope this helps. Smallworld

I've flown to/from DCA a number of times in the last month. The metro station is the easiest way I've found to get to/from DCA. If you just have a one night trip, maybe park or catch a cab to the nearest metro station and take the metro to the airport.
