good Mediterranean restaurant in DC??
Can anyone recommend, what they feel to be, the best Mediterranean/Greek restaurant in DC? I'll be staying in the Bethesda area but will go anywhere in DC if I know it's good.

My personal favorite is Zaytinya, but I do have an affinity for all things Jose Andres. Rosemary's Thyme Bistro is also quite good. For actual Greek, I've found Zorba's in Dupont to be enjoyable. Can't say much about Bethesda though (I live on the wrong side of the river).

Levantes in Dupont is good. Lebanese Taverna is quite good as well.

Can I be honest? There is no Greek in DC proper that is worth traveling from Bethesda for. That's if I'm being honest, of course.
There is a joint in Alexandria that is pretty good, but I can't recall the name. It's on King street. |

I like Mourayo in the Dupont Circle area. It is upper moderate price range.
I do like Zaytinya, but it can get quite noisy in there. There's also a place on 18th Street in the middle of the Adams-Morgan restaurant area, but the name escapes me -- maybe something like Cafe Mediteranee? |
Layalina in Ballston. is Lebanese or eastern med.
is Komi considered Med? |

Two greek/med restaraunts I'd recommend are in the rockville area.
Mykonos Grill near Twinbrook, and Cava farther out near Potomac. Both are excellent and just north of Bethesda. |
http://www.bacchusoflebanon.com/ is in Bethesda.

If you just want to go somewhere convenient to Bethesda, you could hop on the Metro...Cleveland Park is 4 stops away and Byblos and Yanni's are both decent.
For really good Mediterranean food, I have a new favorite..Me Jana in Arlington. It's a good half hour drive (more w/traffic) from Bethesda, but the food is outstanding. |

Kellari Taverna is on K Street. Its pricey, but folks have actually started to give it decent reviews.

One of my favorites is Cafe Divan, a Turkish place in georgetown. It is moderate in price and is better than any other place I have been in in the area. It's not a bad place to go if you want to be in georgetown. It takes me about 40 minutes to get there from Bethesda.
