Kellari Taverna is on K Street. Its pricey, but folks have actually started to give it decent reviews.

I might give this a try in NYC as they have one there. Thanks.

One of my favorites is Cafe Divan, a Turkish place in georgetown. It is moderate in price and is better than any other place I have been in in the area. It's not a bad place to go if you want to be in georgetown. It takes me about 40 minutes to get there from Bethesda.

The Georgetown Hill Inn on this site looks like an interesting little place.

If you feel like coming into town (Red Line subway from Bethesda to Dupont Circle then about a 3-4 short blocks walk), The Tabard Inn is a great Greek experience, especially lunch in the back patio on a sunny day. It's a Washington institution!

Also in town (Red Line to Metro Center, switch to Blue/Orange to Eastern Market Metro Station), Cafe 8 on 8th Street SE is a Mediterranean/Turkish place, very good food. The special appeal of Cafe 8 is that for any reason, if you don't like the looks of the place or the menu or the wait, there are at least half a dozen GREAT alternatives (Chesapeake Room, Ted's Bulletin, Cava Greek restaurant, Banana Cafe Caribbean food, Starfish, Jordan's 8 sushi) within a block or two, and my favorite, Montmartre (French provincial), three blocks away on 7th. A great restaurant row, a very pretty Capitol Hill neighborhood, worth the trip into town.

Seconding Bacchus.

I highly recommend Zaytinya (although it is more of a greek/turkish fusion). Zaytinya is one of the best restaurants in DC and is quite reasonable. Second would be Cava, but that is on Cap Hill, so a bit out of the way.

+1, Mourayo is a little pricy, but excellent food and a great location.

I ate in Cava in Potomac (on the recommendation of another FTer) and it was great. I'm going to go to the Cap Hill Cava next time.
