Local news this evening said DCA and BWI closed, one runway operating at IAD. I believe the snow is supposed to continue until 6am tomorrow morning.

IAD is closed as well until 6am.

DCA might re-open around noon. Runways are clear, however taxi-ways still covered and now they have run out of places to place the snow

Looks like DCA will be OK when I arrive this evening. The issue now becomes getting out of the airport. WMATA is making it sound like rail service will be shut down for the rest of the day; they aren't bothering to clear anything. I hope there is at least taxi service.

Ground transportation from DCA?

Agreed. I'm monitoring the Metro website to see when they plan to re-start Rail service from DCA. I doubt that it will be today, but am hoping that rail will be running from DCA by 10 am Monday. If you hear news reports on this, would appreciate an update.

If not, anyone have a guess as to whether getting a cab will be dramatically tougher than normal Monday mid-morning at DCA? If so, I may arrange for a car.

Thanks

If you're traveling very light, it's a mile and change to walk from National to the Crystal City Metro stop, from where you can get into D.C. (they reopened the Yellow Line from there to D.C. earlier today). But that's assuming that the sidewalks from the airport are clear.

I've seen taxis out today, so I'm sure that'll be an option.

Getting a cab from DCA will likely be easier than to DCA, but likely its the option lots of folks are going for, so expect a wait till you get one.

Depending on where you are going, the car rental could be a good idea however you need to be sure you'd have somewhere to "put" it once you get where you're going.

Here we go.

Flight to DCA delayed four hours. We were told DCA had 30+ planes waiting for a gate. I got booked onto another AA flight into DCA. I guess that flight won't have as long of a wait to get a gate.

I may have lost my first class seat, but I want to get home. I found out, though, it's a 757.. F doesn't really matter then. :)

Finally made it home. It's going to be a long night for some people. I landed at DCA at around 10:45 and the airport was PACKED.

The cab line wasn't too bad, but it was long. I stood outside for about 15 minutes.

That's really not too bad for DCA. I have seen the cab line be over an hour long. (Late night after lots of weather delays, which is why I needed a cab.)
