What part of Cabo is that in?

Ever the gentlemen to help out 3 single ladies in need..... my family & I (note, I'm not trying to pick y'all up! :rolleyes: ) stayed at the Royal Solaris 2 summers ago. What I can tell you: more laid back than Cabo, but we liked that. Hotel was very very nice. 3.5-4 Diamond category. Pools were simply awesome, food for an all inclusive was top notch (specialty restaurants were the best). Lots of marble, foyer was great, timeshare stuff very low key. With the week's rate we got a cruise from Cabo to see the Land's End Arch & lover's beach (skip it guys!), and go snorkeling. It was a large 200 plus passenger boat, not some skimpy boat. About the only negative: the beach in front of the hotel is a looking beach. The waves hit at such an awkward angle & had significant rip that NOBODY went swimming, although there are other beaches a cab ride away that did. Also, you can take a free shuttle into cabo that runs a few times/day, or walk about 1/2 mile to a traffic circle & take the local bus. Very safe, a taste of mexico, and cheap. Oh, our rate even included free green's fees for 2/day, if you're golfers. Nightly entertainment was good & varied; only 1 night did i think it was too amateur.

Have a fair amount of pics of the vacation & resort; PM me & I'll send you an i'net link to the whole album. Oh, be sure to plan a day's excursion to do the desert ATV's; very fun & cool. Also, the town of Cabo itself is still a bit quaint, but being overrun with too much Gringo stuff like Starbucks & chain restaurants. Get it while you can! Enjoy the time. ^

Hey, my pleasure. It made me nostalgic for a time in my single life that never actually happened.

My best friend and I stayed at the Melia and it was a long stumbling distance from the action but we did OK considering the intake of tequilla. I have to recommend Cabo Wabo partly because I knew the bartender and Sammy was there and performing that week (was in October). There are many clubs on the strip and you will hear them a mile away with those whistles. Skipped the booze cruise but did a sunset cruise out to the penninsula which was lovely and did some snorkeling away from town. Scuba diving isn't so great there and you can't really swim in the ocean because of the rip tides. The Melia had a lot of action at the swim-up bar, lots of groups and couples. We fit right in.

Went there on my honeymoon and split our trip at two hotels... The Hilton Los Cabos is the way to go for European Plan (not all inclusive). We went to the Crowne Plaza del Cabo for the All-Inclusive Plan and the food was amazing. Drinks were well drinks and no top shelf liquor, but not bad overall. We also had fun at the Cabo Wabo in Cabo San Lucas.

The Finisterra is a bit of an older hotel, built in the late 60's I believe. It did go through a major renovation a few years ago, and is on the Pacific side of Cabo, with a non-swimming beach.

I think is will be a good choice for you. Trip Advisor has several nice reviews about it, and it is only a 10 minute walk to the main strip.

If you happen to be there at the end of October the Bissbees Million dollar
Marlin tournament is going on. I was there a few years ago during the tournament and it was interesting to watch them bring in the catch at the end of the day. There were also plenty of nice boats in town for the event.

You really should go to TripAdvisor the crowd there specializes in this type of advice.

My two cents: We had narrowed down our choice to Cabo and Cancun for an upcoming vacation. Cabo is a lot closer timewise, but Cancun just sounds like a lot more fun. For one thing you don't need a rental car to get around Cancun but you will need one if you stay outside Cabo as the taxis are comparatively more expensive. Also, it does not appear that there is much to do in Cabo besides fish, golf and sun, and the beach in Cancun is reputed to be much nicer. In the end it was a no brainder for us and as it turned out the flights to Cabo were not much cheaper and the hotels were actually more $. :cool:

That being said, for many of us Cabo is a lot closer and therefore makes more sense for a shorter trip. Also have not heard of anyone who had a bad time there, though be sure to check out the reviews in the Starwood forum if you decide to stay at the Westin or Sheraton as the reviews are highly critical.

Whatever you do I would avoid PVR was there some time ago and the town is dull and nasty, the beaches not much nicer. Lots of families as you suspected, there are much more exciting places for a group of singles. ;)
