CDMX - 2025 Day of the Dead Activities
If you're visiting Mexico City October through November, you'll have a lot of places to check out. It's the most visited holiday festival in Mexico City and throughout Mexico.
I'll be listing them in this thread as they appear online in the coming days. The parade route and times are usually the last to be "officially" announced by the mayor. But generally, booking a hotel or hostel on the parade route is highly suggested, especially if you book a room with a street view. The crowds are huge. To get a front row seat you'll need to arrive by 9am. If you don't have anywhere to sit they sell stools for about $5.00. The parade doesn't start until after 12 noon usually. Starting location could be the Zocalo or Chapultepec park. Edit: If you know of any Day of the Dead activity, please post them in this thread. |

Once the route is announced, if it starts in the Zocalo, the best place to garb a seat or book a stay would be around José Maria Pino Suárez street where they sit up or anywhere around Av 5 de Mayo. If it starts in Chapultepec park, then just pick anywhere along Reforma or Juarez or book the Hilton Reforma.

Feria de los Barrios (Neighborhood Fair in the Plaza Tolsa)
Pending the official government announcement of all the day of the dead activities, they did post this event that starts on October 15th in the plaza Tolsa. Shortly thereafter all the events should be announced. Unfortunately, you can't rely on the ones listed online right now as they use the same information from the previous year and change the dates.

The official events are starting to trickle in. The Museum of Popular Arts has posted their annual event.
The event is the "Alebrijes Parade". It starts in the Zocalo at 12 noon on 18 October and ending in the Chapultepec Park. The parade includes all handmade floats from villages around Mexico. They will end up stationed on Reforma and the surrounding areas after the parade. Side note: Rumors are still going around that the mega parade will take place on November 1st from Chapultepec Park going to the Zocalo. I won't post the official notice until it is confirmed, because every year it's wrong. If you don't want to wait to book a room you can take a chance and book one for 11/1/2025. Unfortunately, in Mexico everything is done almost last minute. |
While you are waiting for additional event listings, here's the short version of the video that inspired the annual mega parade. There were parades and festivals prior to the movie, but nothing like it is now. The hotel (Gran Hotel) depicted in the video is one you can still book in the Zocalo.

Annual Zombie March, Saturday October 18th, 3:00 pm
The Zombie March will be held on 18 October 2025, starting at 3pm (formation) at the monument of revolution, and ending in the Zocalo at 6pm.
Only people wearing a costume can join in. It's a family event so no alcohol. It's common during these days of the dead events for several street vendors to sell alcohol on the streets. However, certain Alcaldías (areas) in the city post alcohol bans, which will be announced in the coming weeks. CDMX usually doesn't have one. The event is free and they are accepting nonperishable food for charity. Spectators can line the parade route. Official event Poster is at the link below: https://almomento.mx/la-marcha-zombi...y-solidaridad/ |
