Go back to post #50. This weekend will be another one full of protests since it's the anniversary of the October 2nd Massacre that happened right before the Olympics. When there's anniversary protests the entire weekend is used by many groups to display their anger with the government in other issues they have. Follow this thread and I will continue to post the upcoming protests for this upcoming weekend.

Most protests/marches occur from the angel of independence towards the Zocalo. Roma norte and condesa protest are usually in Condesa at the park and most aren't violent. But nobody thought the one held on July 4th would be violent. Just be aware of your surroundings no matter where you go. They aren't inclined to physically assault people but to use water or spray paint to target people.

You'll be just fine, but unfortunately the city is on edge, so just be cordial to anyone you encounter.

October 2nd Tlatelolco Massacre March

"October 2nd is one of the most important dates in history. Even Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum issued a public apology last year, so commemorations and even a large march are expected in 2025. This Thursday marks the 57th anniversary of the Tlatelolco Massacre (where buildings will be renovated), one of the most painful episodes in modern Mexican history. In 1968, students demonstrating in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas were repressed by the Army and the paramilitary group "Olimpia Battalion," leaving an as yet undetermined number of victims. This event profoundly marked the capital's society and the student movement in the country. What time does the October 2nd, 2025, march start? The traditional march commemorating October 2nd will begin at 4:00 p.m., departing from the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, heading toward the Zócalo in Mexico City, where the 43 Ayotzinapa students recently marched."

Expect more violence and destruction.

This is part of a pro-palestine march and demonstration during the night of October 1st. There were a couple of these groups around. They ended up burning that flag and vandalizing any shop that was headquartered in the USA. Today should be even more violent with the October 2nd Massacre March.

The below link is the route (marked in green) of the march starting in Tlatelolco and going to the Zocalo today, October 2nd. If you are traveling by car try to travel on the roads highlighted in blue to avoid all the congestion.

It's expected that there will be at least three separate marches included in the Tlatelolco memorial mega march, pro Palestine March for release of the Mexican nationals (current situation going on) and the 43 Missing students. The march doesn't start until 4pm today from up north.

Various demonstrations and blockades cheduled for today October 3, 2025

The ones in Roma Sur and Condesa are related to reproduction clinics only.

There will be massive crowds in and around Centro Historico today for the annual speech of the President. Expect road closures. There's bus loads of people who have arrived in the city from every state in Mexico. If you plan to drive today, the traffic will be horrendous.

Pro-palestine march for the 2nd anniversary earlier today. Hard to keep up. And outside the US Embassy.
