There has to be some kind of miscommunication here. OP refers to email from "MC", not the LNF desk. Might that be like asking the front desk (instead of the kitchen) about the fresh catch of the day?

We all know there are plenty of third party booking site successes. Personally, I'm two-for-two.

You wanna talk about BRG fraud? Check the Hilton forum. :td:

Except that at many properties the front desk takes room service orders.

THE FINAL WORD ON THIS. Marriott admits errant information.

[QUOTE=dugar;11587795]Marriott's Look No Further Best Rate Guarantee
is a total fraud.

I posted the original thread claiming the Marriott Best Rate Guarantee was a fraud and unethical.

After all the insistant assurances from other posters that I was wrong, today I called Marriott once again (3rd time). They ask me to fax them the letter that I received from Marriott saying hotels.com did not qualify for the rate match. I fax'd them the letter and I promptly received the following reply:

"We have received your fax regarding the incorrect information you received from a Marriott associate. We apologize for the errant information. We can confirm, claims involving rates on Hotels.com may be approved provided the discrepancy is within the terms and conditions of the Marriott Look No Further Guarantee program. As a good will gesture, we have credited your Marriott Rewards account...."

So there we have it. The letter I received from MC Customer Care was in error. MC will match hotels.com rates.

Thanks to all the flyers who took the time to assist.

Of course, that's not quite the end of the story, as now hundreds of FTers have been exposed to the words "phony" and "total fraud" associated with Marriott, Marriott Rewards, and Marriott Corporate. Sigh.

It kind of plays out like this:

Marriott is a Fraud!!!!!!

OK, maybe they're not.

Not the case here.

My email message to MC stated only that the rate on Hotels.com was lower.
I said nothing about the side issues (internet, breakfast, etc.).
MC responded to me that hotels.com does not qualify for the rate match.

Probably poor wording on the response - the hotels.com rate does not qualify for the match.

Do you not think that any BRG checks out your claim? you admit your email said "hotels.com is lower for the xxx type room" - they looked it up on hotels.com and saw that it was not the same type of rate and said "no".

You should have grabbed the hotels.com room - I often book hotels that include parking, wifi - whatever - on a third-party site knowing full well that the price guarentee does not apply - but hey, I got a lower rate AND parking! ^ for me....

Next time read the T&C. :td:
