Obviously I'm in the minority with 'MARRY-OTT'

Another vote for Marry-ott.

LOL well trust me he is in the minority but I have never heard him ever correct anyone so thus the company is commonly called Mary-Ott

Yep, a great example of a Level 5 leader - humility. It's his own family name, he pronounces it Marry-utt (or Marry-itt); but never corrects anyone who mangles it.

From my point of view, it's respectful to emulate the owner's pronunciation. He's more than earned that.

I couldn't have said it better myself - he is truly a great leader, mentor, coach etc and yes he does deserve a lot of credit, his parents founded a terrific company but it is what it is today because of Bill's leadership

Well, it's official

And after all this time and many stays at their hotels, I have just learned from a member of the Marriott team that the company name and family name, pronounced correctly, should rhyme with “chariot.” Most of us have been saying MarriOTT, as if we were going to talk about an “otter,” like that cute swimming animal. Now we know.
