There are a lot of things a customer can do to reduce costs for the vendors! FWIW - Bill Marriott himself said that it's ok for the customers to take home the soap, shampoo, etc. Cost of doing bizness. Just not the robes, slippers, etc. I do take the soaps, shampoos, etc. I donate them to a shelter (usually) or use them myself if I'm short. Again, I'm still trying to get a handle on why the size of the soap is all that important. I hestitate to bring sex into this, but maybe this is a venus/mars thing??? Cheers. |

I pay the same rate for nights 2 and 3 than I do for night 1. The bottles should be replaced daily.

First, when washing hands, the water splashes everywhere due to the weird angle of the soap. More importantly, though, the bath soap is adding time to my shower. I have to make sure that the non-carved side is always down...very inefficient. Regardless, I would have preferred if they just made the bar thinner rather than carving out one end of it. randomman |
The 'unmentionables' are a good idea, anyway you look at them, unless you are an elitest, who helping the enviornment does not apply to! :(

I am hesitant to use the words "cost cutting" but....
I just left the NYC Marquis which has ALWAYS had Nirvae bath goods. This week - the usual Bath and Body Orange ....hollowed out soap and all! |

I bet if they had just switched form hollowed out to flat soap peopel would be complaining it is slippiery and they can't hold onto it.
|
Not to incite flames, but I really do think this is a Venus/Mars thing ;)
And like some others I truly can't imagine how hollowed out 'adds' to one's time in a shower. Duh - just flip the thing to whichever way you want it to be when you put it back on the rack. 1 second extra; that's hardly inefficient. I also haven't noticed the water splashing all over when washing at the sink, but I'm willing to concede on this one until I check it out further. Maybe I always 'splash' around :D OVMV. Cheers. |
OK, maybe I'm weird (as some have suggested), but . . .
I hate to have the slivers of soap left when the bar gets too small to use lying around, and it seems like waste throwing them away, so when I can, I stick them onto the new bar and use them that way. (They stick together reasonably well with softer soaps, but harder soaps are more of a problem.) The round soaps a Marriott competitor uses, that have one concave side, are easy to do this with since the remaining sliver fits nicely in the concavity. I haven't experienced the Marriott "hollow" soaps yet, but they may have the same capability. ____________________ MM=> UA 97%, AA 94% |

A more disturbing trend I see now is for the maids NOT to replace any of the 4 bottles (shampoo, conditioner, lotion and mouthwash) on a daily basis.
This bothers me because now she is making assumptions as to the number of showers I take (often I workout after work) and how many people are staying in the room (hey, I'm always dreaming of getting lucky). Granted, most of the bottles can be stretched but the mouthwash quanity is barely enough for one use. This means instant no tip. I can't believe its a policy but happens enough so I would imagine it is. And don't tell me to call housekeeping or leave a note - its so basic it doesn't warrant a second thought. |
