Joining MR -- anyone have a current code?
 

As per an affiliation with a group I'm joining, I was asked to join Marriott Rewards. Immediately, I hit the web looking for a promo code and stumbled upon FT. I'm impressed with the attitude and nature of the people who post on this forum and am excited to be a part of it.

I saw the codes for automatic gold elite MR enroll through BA and the other airline but that promo expired on June 30. Does anyone have any codes that apply for someone joining now and staying in a Marriott in August and beyond?

If not, can anyone offer me some links for refer-a-member?

Is the instant gold offer really over?

I read the T&C as you only get triple miles for stays between Mar 31 and Jun 30.

"You must enrol in Marriott Rewards with enrolment code BAG1 to be eligible for this offer. Bonus Mile credit towards the indicated Marriott Rewards/British Airways promotion is given for stays with participating Marriott hotels between 31 March 2008 – 30 June 2008"

Is it really possible to get instant Gold by referral from one of you kind souls?? I am already in the MR program, as a basic member. Does that disqualify me from being referred? Thanks, in advance for any help.

Still working. I had a friend sign up on July 3rd. It took 4 to 5 days to get his accounts merged may be due to July 4th holiday.

I signed up over the weekend for the fly blue promo and it got me gold even though it was past June 30.

Did you have to join the Air France program to use the fly blue promo?

You don't need to be a member of the frequent flyer program, and can choose points instead of miles.

I think that some people have got their wires crossed. The BA and Air France/KLM promotions where instant Gold status were granted have now finished. The 'Refer-a-friend' scheme is still running as before but the new member starts from scratch. As far as I'm aware there is not currently a way to get instant Gold - referred or otherwise.

The refer a friend promo (which goes until end of year I think) gives bonus points to the person referring when the referree stays at Marriotts (1K/shot up to 5 stays) & the same for the referee. It's on the Marriott website.

As we all know, someone can get Silver status by getting a Marriott Visa.

But instant Gold ala Air France, etc, expired end of June or shortly thereafter. Some current members were successful in getting accounts merged; others were not. But right now there's no instant gold referred or otherwise.

What's the point of being referred when you are not entitled to earn bonus? According to the terms and conditions:
"New members who join through the Refer a Friend program must designate Marriott Rewards points as their earning preference."
Both the referral and referree will not gain any benefits from your first 5 stays this year if you earn airline points thru the stays.

Is there anyone who could refer me for instant gold or know of any other codes before I join Marriott Rewards? I have some hotels to book for next few weeks and I have to stay at a Marriott.

I don't know of any promos going for instant Gold; those are over. There is the refer-a-member program where you & the person referring get 1Kpoints/stay for up to 5 stays. Plus there is a MegaBonus program going on (separate promo/registration) that will garner up to 25K points. And if you get a Marriott Visa you get instant Silver status.

As stated earlier in this thread, there is a deal where if you sign up through my (or anyone's) referral link, you would earn 1,000 Bonus Marriott Rewards Points for each of your first 5 stays. In turn, I too would earn the same bonus.
