Oh really? Comparison is a quite common form of rating.
That's your opinion not mine. As I said in my post: Rating to me is 7/10 or 70% that sort of thing The key words are: TO ME Rating was not and is not my intent. The title of the thread is not RATE THE MC. |
not guilty !
My own "verdict" is that it's nice that Marriott has placed a representative in this FT forum. I'm appreciative of their presence.
As to what their specific role should be. I think we should keep in mind that FT represents but a small segment of the Marriott guest base. Admittedly, many FTers are road warriors and could consider themselves important customers. But I do not feel that Marriott has any special obligation to do or say anything in this forum. The MC is here both as a courtesy and as a representative of a company which acknowledges that FT is one of many resources to learn about their customers. I remain mute about specific threads and queries posted here. I do believe that we are all only a few virtual clicks away from contacting Marriott customer service and walking through the virtual door like everyone else. That said, I hope that MC continues their presence here as any direct feedback from Marriott is something that I appreciate and value. Barry |
I tend to agree with Jerseyfinn somewhat on this one. Any representation by Marriott is better than ZERO respresentation, IMHO. While there are some who feel it isn't as interactive as the SPG rep, I for one applaud Marriott for at least addressing the FT community in some way, shape, or form. They are by no means obligated to.
As the relationship between the forum and Marriott's representatives grow, perhaps so too will the type of service and information the representatives are able to provide our membership. I welcome any level of interaction between corporate and consumer, in the hopes that both will benefit in the long-run. |

No, it's a defintion. "[A] relative estimate or evaluation."
Anyone have any first impressions? Complaints? Praises? Experiences they wish to share? Show me where I said.. "Rate the Marriott Concierge" ? If you want to interpret or spin it you are entitled. At the end of the day, it all comes down to the intent, which I covered on my last post. :) |

AMEN to all of that. It puzzles me that people feel the need to address their specific, personal issues to someone on flyertalk rather than via email or phone like everyone else does... I appreciate the official MI presence on FT, and perhaps there would be more time for meaningful interaction if they were not dealing with people's individual issues that would be efficiently and properly addressed by CC?
There are times where I will read someone's personal issue and learn something from the interaction with other FT members or the lurkers response. We can all learn for each other, that's the FT spirit. I believe everyone at FT welcomes the official MI presence, including myself. I would like to see more interaction / participation within the forum. Sophiegirl, brought up a good question... Is the MC position FT or PT. That might explain the limited responses due to time constraints. Maybe the MC can clarify what is their role here on FT and what they can and cannot do. :) |

Although there are certainly some folks who feel the need to address their personal issues on FT without ever having tried to resolve them through channels, I find more posts that are the opposite - FT'ers who HAVE tried CC and did NOT receive efficient and proper responses....and are looking for additional assistance and ideas. As an example, I certainly don't think the MC should be asked to solve petty "my 500 points did not post' issues. However, they need to be aware if "500 points not posting' is a major issue across the chain experienced by many FT'ers....... Some of us are getting caught up in the original language used by the OP. In follow-up posts, she has made it plain her intent was not to rate, evaluate, or apply quantitative measures to the MC's in a negative way - she is just curious, based on responses seen to date, what their overall input will be to this forum. Definition of expectations usually pays off to the benefit of all in the long run.... |
I'm not entirely comfortable with "verdict" in the title of the thread, just the way it hits me. I'd probably feel a little squeamish if someone started a "verdict on GrizShel" thread. I welcome any level of support from Marriott for us, although of course it would be helpful to understand more of what they expect their level of commitment to be. I believe they are still working that out.
|
I am also uncomfortable with the word "Verdict" in the thread title. Like Barryfinn and others have already stated, I am happy to see increased Marriott presence on this forum. Let's give it some time to naturally evolve into what works best for everyone, both FT'ers and Marriott. William is a unique resource. The Marriott Concierge team won't be William but they may grow into something equally as useful. Again let's be patient and enjoy the increased Marriott presence we are already seeing in this forum.

If the OP agrees could the MODs change the title to 'feedback' instead of verdict.
