One thing about the Long Beach Renaissance. They do not upgrade Platinum members to suites, or at least that's what the manager said as he offered me a junior suite for $420.

I have been a plat member for several years and this is the first time, on two continents, that a Marriott brand had refused to upgrade me, when a suite was available.

What other continent have you been traveling to? I've routinely not been uprgaded to suites in Asia & Europe.

I have not had the pleasure of traveling to Asia, but in Europe I have been upgraded to a suite at Marriott Champs-Elysees, with both the Courtyard Neuilly and Rive Gache apologizing profusely that they were out of suites. With other programs I have also been upgraded to a suite at the Meridien Montparnasse, the Westin Paris, and the Hilton in Rhodes. The only place where I have not been upgraded is Great Britain where the Hilton flatly said that they do not upgrade to suites. |
I guess that's my problem...95% of my Euorpean travel is in Great Britain. I've only been upgraded to a suite once at the Victoria & Albert Hotel in Manchester.
