rate code help: Kingsgate Conference Center

I looked over the master thread but got spacey eyed before getting all the way through it. There is a particular hotel that I'm trying to find a rate for for a prospective student coming to visit the local university. The hotel is: The Kingsgate Marriott

Coincidentally, it's the only on hotel on/near the campus but rates like XML and such don't turn up any results. Even GOV isn't offered but then again, nobody would ever use that rate right?

Anyone ever stay there? If not, it's between University of Cincinnati and "Pill Hill" where four hospitals are. I didn't know if where was an education rate or medical rate to look for.

I graduated from UC and stay there every year for Homecoming......It is a very nice hotel but not really all that full service. The do NOT have a lounge and the restaurant is crappy. They do have a nice shuttle which will take you anywhere you want (A nice ride to the local bars...

Overall, You will like the place but discounts are hard to come by since it is in an educational environment. You might try some of the codes for the BioTechs because there is a large molecular research facility for the University just next door.

Good point. I'll go back through the codes with a refined search. I'm surprised there isn't something set up for interviewies and whatnot.

Yes, I've stayed there a number of times. Mrs. GHF has family in Clifton. Kingsgate is - without question - the closest and best hotel.

The rooms are OK - more like a CY than a Marriott. I've had a real problem there with the sheets not being properly put on the bed or tucked in. In one case, I think they used a Queen (or Jr. King) sheet on a King bed.

The restaurant is OK for breakfast, but the help leave something to be desired. Most likely students that don't want to be there.

Pricing is a mixed bag. It's much less expensive than Rivercenter, but more expensive than the CY at Blue Ash or Covington. They have a lot of conferences there and other events sponsored by the University. Your best opportunity to find a 'deal' is on holidays like Christmas/New Year.

I'll stay there again for the convenience. If going to Cincy for business, I'd probably look at a different property.

BTW, since you say it's for a prospective student, you should call the admissions office and see if they have a special rate code. Many (most?) universities have discounts for prospective students and alumni at on-campus hotels.

GHF- Yea I assume the university would have something. I was hoping someone out there knew what it was off the top of their head. I think if someone wants to really visit the university they need to get a taste of Clifton rather than stay at River Center or the airport - even though the former has a killer view.

If I find anything out I'll let you guys know since you visit often.

Oh, I agree completely. But RC only has a great view if you're on the river side, not "city view"....

Thanks.
