Perhaps there is a directive to be more stringent with the discounts. I have noticed over the past few months being more frequently asked what company I am with when staying on corporate rates.

I have no problem with a hotel asking to see proof of "membership" or group association. In fact, I think Marriott themselves causes problems because a lot of hotels don't regularly check for proof. This can lead to persons trying to use codes that they don't have membership/affiliations.

I have stayed at that hotel many, many times and have never been asked for my AAA card despite almost always booking a AAA rate.

I also stayed at the Makati Renaissance 2 weeks ago under a discount code and was not asked for ID either.

Which discount code did you use and what kind of rate were you able to obtain? I just checked out of there on Dec. 5th and may need to return in about 3-4 months. Without a discount code I was paying US$95.00 room only (+22.5% tax & service), admittedly it's not that bad of a rate, however any savings or extra benefits (i.e. breakfast) would be quite welcome.
