Marriott.com issue today?
Anybody notice if there is a problem with the 'hotel found' page on Marriott.com?
First it is defaulting by price as opposed to distance, first I've seen of this. Secondly when you select distance it will resort but when you try and go to page two it resorts and reverts to price, so you cannot page through the hotels by distance. And the choice to list all hotels on one page is gone. They definately changed something on the site. |
I called the Marriott Internet Customer Care people and they indicated that this was a bug that was disocvered with the roll out of some new search features and hoped to have it corrected shortly.
The new sort is really helpful, however. The Keyword seach looks new ^ too. |
i just accessed the marriott website and the search area is missing. no place to enter cities, dates, etc. i had to click through some other links to get to the search engine.

I noticed the difference and I was hoping that there was a bug and not a new default.

Yep the new search sucks big time.
- You can no longer list ALL hotels in just one page but have to scroll down all the different pages - You cannot specify just certain brands i.e. Marriott and Renaissance hotels but have to select Full Service or other I want my OLD search back ASAP! I really liked the simplicity of the old search compared to the junk that Hilton's and Hyatt's offer. |
And you no longer can specify max distance from the city center, for example, all hotels within 5 miles from NYC. Brand selection feature was also very useful.
Add new features as much as you like but why do they remove existing functionality?... |

I really liked the old format and IMHO the booking engine was better than Hilton's, Hyatt's, and InterContinental's. After the change the InterContinental booking engine is more functional. |
Not sure why you are missing it, but brand selection still exists within the left side of the page. Type in New York, NY and you will see it at the bottom. The sort order is by distance so you just need to scroll or page as far out as you go. IMO this new seacrh is a big enhancement and plus - especially in a city that I am not familiar with.

I agree, these new and improved features fixed something that was not broken. I much liked the older version better. They only enhancement that I do like is the availablity to type in a new rate code and hit the enter key in lieu of the the button on the webpage once you made your first search.
|
I also preferred the older version better. I frequently do a RI+MVCI or a Ren+Mar search. In practice, the "Extended Stay" and "Full Service" options are okay, but it's still more cumbersome and shows more than I want. New options are fine, but taking away the old functionality that was actually valuable is not.

Anyone else having an issue using Firefox & marriott.com right now?

I am using Firefox right now, and I can access my account on Marriott.com.
