Status upgraded in error?
For the last two weeks, I have been logging in to check my Marriott Rewards account. I started last year, stayed 43 nights, and have the Silver card and benefits and all that. However, now on my account when I sign in, I get the Gold pictures and status, and it says I've stayed 16 nights in 2006 when I've only stayed 3. One of my stays is listed as 1/14-1/29, when we actually checked out on 1/16 - but it credited me the points for only a 2 night stay. This must be an error, but am I free to take advantage of all the Gold offers now? What do you guys think? I've still never stayed 50 nights in a calendar year even with the error.

It's probably just me, but I would contact customer service and point out the mistake. If they want to leave you as a Gold, good for them. If not at least you're doing the ethical thing.

It's up to you what you want to do with the extra night credit but my guess is you are now gold. See this link for discussion on the rolling tier Marriott has been using.

I've heard that sometimes when you get close to the threshold, ie 50, they will comp you to the next level before you get there, especially if you spend a lot
