Concierge Lounge — Tysons Corner Marriott
I spend 3-4 weeks a year at the Tysons Corner Marriott. I enjoy this hotel, it is close to my work place, near to Barnes & Noble, Borders and several restaurants. This hotel also has a Schula's Steak House so this is one of the few hotels in the chain where room service can actually do a good steak.
The concierge lounge here has the best food service of any concierge lounge I've been to. In the past I rmember it being rather ordinary but not this week. Each night there has been fresh fruit, raw veggie tray, cheese tray, varied chips and crackers. Hot cheese sauce and salsa and sliced meats. In addition to all of this there has been a hot entree (or pair of entrees) every night. We have had egg rolls, stuffed mushrooms, fried shrimp. Tonight we had something that I have never had and would never have epected in a concierge lounge. The hot entree was hotdogs and chili. Chili dogs! The lounge also provided chopped onions, ketchup and mustard. A nice change indeed and tasty. 100+ nights a year and Marriott rarely surprises me, tonight they did. |
How are the desserts there? I assume there is a cake or pie nightly?
Also, could you post the hours/days of the lounge? Thanks. |
Desserts have improved at the Marriotts that I tend to stay in.
Best lounge meal I have ever experienced was the SAN Marina Marriott which had a Sushi night. YUM!!! Dan |
Have you been back since?
Any new surprises or more chili dogs? Have never had the luck to grab one of those. |
They always had excellent food at the Denver Marriott City Center. Same type of thing - basically it was a hot meal - saves a load on per diems! And every Wednesday was client appreciation night - free booze and a very nice hot meal. One night they had chefs slicing a roast!

The hours for the concierge lounge are:
Sunday: 5-10 pm Monday-Thursday: 6:30 am -10 pm Friday: 6:30 am - noon Saturday: closed |
I went back to Tysons Corner Marriott this weekend. Orange juice is now offered during evening hours when the CL is serving appetizers and desserts. As mentioned before, this is one of the best lounges around. They had two salad dishes with beef and chicken, pita bread and chickpea dip and everything else that javaman mentioned.
|
I could not agree more....I spend about 2 months a year in No Va and i was hooked on this place after 1 week.....standard rooms but the CL is incredible.....I got 5K bonus points to entice me to come back this past spring as a way to say "sorry for the inconvenience during our lobby renovation". If you like shopping, it is right next door to Tysons Mall and across the highway from the Galleria! And they are the only ones who have a good VIP rate so I will always stay there when I am in the area!
|
I actually prefer Fairview Park Marriott for larger rooms and later breakfast hours in the CL. However, I was upgraded to a junior suite on the most recent stay at Tysons Corner, which is about the size of a regular room in other Marriott properties. You cannot beat Tysons's CL in Northern Virginia.

Comps for Gold members and Tysons Marriott?
Does anyone know if this hotel upgrades Gold members to the Concierge floor?
In addition, since the Lounge is closed on weekends, do they comp breakfast for Gold members, like some hotels do? Thanks! |
Given that per the Concierge Lounges Open On Weekends sticky thread lists coupons to Plats for weekend breakfast, I would guess that if you ask nicely (and possibly drop a subtle reminder that Golds get the same breakfast benefits as Plats), you could get breakfast from them.

I noticed that but it may not be a complete answer, i.e., it is only reporting that since only Plats have reported that has occurred and Golds have not chimed in. I know for a fact that list is not up to date -- or at least does not have current information -- as for some time now, both Marcell and I have reported that the Crystal Gateway Marriott provides a comped full breakfast buffet - and a truly excellent one at that -- to both Plats and Golds on weekends -- and neither is reported on that list. So, if any Gold has an answer to this question, I would appreciate some feedback! HHoppe1, I do agree with you, but it comes down to whether or not it is a hotel policy not to award Golds this perk, or just a lack of information whether or not that Golds have received this benefit in the past, as well. By the way, I am thinking of using a B1G1 Free cert on an M11 rate at this hotel -- I believe that I read that others have been able to do this without any issues. Correct? Thanks! |
I do believe when I stayed there this past March, I used a B1G1 on, if I remember correctly, was an M11 (though I guess it could have been the MEB) rate. I get the two confused sometimes. I do remember receiving a $100 BB for my nights there and still being able to use a B1G1 coupon.
BTW, the list does show that breakfast is provided on weekends (and no coupons required) at the Crystal City Gateway. |

Well, now I can answer my own question!
I contacted "Brian" Guest Services at the hotel and he confirmed the following: 1). Gold and Platinum Guests are upgraded to Conceirge Level if space is permissible, shoudl not be a problem at all on weekends; 2). Even if no room is available on Concierge Level, Gold or Plat guest will have access to the Lounge; 3). On weekends, when the Lounge is closed, the Gold or Plat guest is given free run of the breakfast buffet -- approx. a $16 value. ^^ Additionally, Brian made a point to inform me that on an M11 rate, the coupon is handed to the guest upon check-in! Finally, although the website shows otherwise, please be informed that most rooms do not have the flat panel TVs installed in them, as yet, although they are starting to do so with the Concierge Level rooms first, I believe. |
