It seems as though I always post my questions on Friday and rarely get a response ever the weekend, so here is hoping someone can help now that the weekdays are here.

Thx

Internet Access fees in Sydney and Melbourne Marriott

Hi,

The Sydney Harbour Marriot has wired access in the rooms. The costs (all in AUD) are:

12.95 per hour
24.95 per day
99.95 per week

The Melbourne Marriott is identical, except they "only" charge 9.95 per hour. The daily and weekly rates are the same as the Sydney Harbour Marriott.

It appears that wireless access is available in the foyer of both hotels and at the same prices.

I also noticed that from the Chancery Court's c-lounge, I was able to pick up BT Openzone's hotspot on Holborn St. I believe it's 10GBP for a 24hr voucher, which you can get online. 40GBP gets you the 30-day voucher, handy if you plan on spending more than 4 days here.

Thanks for the heads up as I am sure someone can benefit from it. As for me, 11 countries 60 days with no more than 7 nights in any one place. Well actually the 7 nights is on a Live Aboard dive boat on the Coral Sea/GBR so not really in one place and no (affordable) internet access there high or low speed.

New World Ren Makati City (Manila) - $5/hr, $15/dy, $75/wk, $225/mo
Also 3 free computers in Exec Lounge with HSIA, printers

HSIA prices at Chancery Court in London are similar to Grosvenor Square, and presumably the other London Marriotts as well. What I discovered at Grosvenor square was a nearby place called "Easy Internet", run by the same company that has "Easyjet".

I've heard bad things about the airline, but their internet access places couldn't be better. Multiple locations, and it works like this.....

Drop a 1GPB coin into a machine and it prints out a ticket with a password, good for 40 or 50 minutes access. (More money=longer time) If you don't use up all of the minutes you paid for, you can use the remaining credit on future visits.

The "Easy Internet" place I used was across from the Bond Street tube...five minutes walk from the Marriott Grosvenor Square. During my most recent stay...five nights...the result was spending less than $5 on web access instead of the $100 or so I'd have paid in the hotel!

At the RCC one can get 7 nights of HSIA for the price of 5 provide you select it at one time.

The rate at the Prague Marriott is approx. $25 a day (or it may be Euros - my memory is a little fuzzy)
