Timelag for points

Hi.. I'm new to the MR program. Was with SPG all this time.
Just wondering what is the typically turn around for points to show up in my account. I staying at the Ren in Mumbai (India) on the 13th for a night and the points haven't shown up. Any thoughts? is it different from hotel to hotel .. country to country?

Quoted as 10-14 business day, but in my experience if they haven't posted in a week, then someone messed up. However, if you fax in a missing stay request, it might take 2-4 more days before posting.

Thanks .. coz I am registered for the mega bonus and am going to be staying again on the 24th. I wanted to ensure I didn't have to go back and request the bonus point too (if it counts the 24th as the first stay).

All my stays in a number of different Marriott properties have been posting within 72 hours.

And don't bother with the fax thing for missing stays: call SLC directly and they typically call the hotel while you wait and settle the matter right there.

Faxing works quick, only after you have the name of a MR representative. Otherwise it can easily get lost in the shuffle of faxes.

I stayed at a hotel in Japan in October. The points did not post for what felt like an eternity. When I called Marriott, I was told that it can take up to 1 month for international properties to post. Apparently some only report in monthly. Marriott would not accept any documentation of the stay in advance of the one month mark. And sure enough, at about 3 weeks, the stay posted.

I stayed at San Antonio Rivercenter and points hadn't posted by two months. Called MR and they could find no record of my stay. They called San Antonio hotel and was told I didn't stay there. I called property and had to talk to 3 people before they could locate a record of my stay. I countered with question...."if I didn't stay there, why did you charge me $1500? What was that for?". Confirmation of stay was finally located and posts posted within 24 hours. I probably was being too patient for points to post and, I'm sure, that's what increased difficulty of tracking record.

It's why I save each and every MR bill/statement upon checkout. If you have a MR representative name, just faxing the statement to the representative gets it done with a day or two.

Waiting seems best

Looks like I should wait a week or so and then give them a call. If they give me the one month excuse, I'll also give them a piece of my mind (just kidding)
