Thanks for the quick replies. I got the same little bag as a lowly Silver, and another associate who doesn't even have a Marriott # also got one, so I think they were giving them out to everyone.

I just checked out of a CY this morning and let them know I did not receive a Plat Gift.
The clerk got the manager, and they handed over $50 cash. It felt wierd to call them on this, as the last time I was at that hotel, there were a little bag of cookies and water as a welcome gift, so not like I missed out on a huge benefit (like non-smoking). The manager was not completely sure of the process. She indicated it was the first time that property had forked out for this program (hard to believe -- probably just the 1st time she delt with it). I didn't have to sign anything -- she did ask if my MR# was part of the reservation. Since it was done online with me logged in -- it definately was. The housekeeper got a bigger chunk than usual! Share the wealth! |
If there has already been a post on this, please direct me towards it. I have done a search and can not seem to come up with the answer.
On the Marriott website, under the platinum arrival gift guarantee section, it states - (Reimbursement varies by hotel brand.) I have looked all over the Marriott website and can not find where it states what reimbursement is offered at which properties. Which is driving me crazy, because I am sure it is there somewhere. Can anyone direct me? Based on this thread, it appears Marriott is $100 and Courtyard is $50. But if it ever occurs, I would like to know the official answer. |

That seems rather odd. Thanks for your help anyway, no wonder I couldn't find it anywhere. |

So the two queen room I just checked into at the FI Philly is not falling under this as a Plat. I called 3 times today and once yesterday to get a king, but no dice. Now, they want to charge me $10 a day for the refridgerator that is used to keep medication cold. All this after waiting over 45 min for the airport shuttle....
 |
I received $25 at a FI last week due to not receiving the Plat arrival gift.

Happened a while ago to me--the Platinum Line offered me an extra 1,000 points, which seemed pretty fair. Mike |
Fairfield Inn
I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in New Haven a few nights ago. I checked in about 2 AM without a reservation, and used a coupon from a travel coupon book I picked up at a rest area.
The rate was $79. and I was upgraded to a king bedded room with a separate seating (sofa bed) area. And, of course, full breakfast was included. In the morning, I realized I hadn't been given a Platinum gift. (I remembered when I went to make coffee, and didn't have the bottle of water I usually save from the gift.) Before I checked out, I called the platinum line; I wasn't sure I was entitled to the gift because I hadn't had a reservation. After putting me on hold to check the rule, the res agent informed me I was, indeed, entitled to compensation. I expressed feeling a little hesitant about bringing it up, and she really encouraged me to say something, because the hotel staff needed to know the rules. She asked me to speak directly to the manager. The manager was surprised the gift hadn't been offered, but without hesitation told me she would deduct $25.00 from my bill. As I've read the posts here, I've been noticing that compensation for other members has been in cash; if the $25. is deducted from my bill, I may not get the points I bargained for. (Platinum points plus Marriott visa points.) It may not seem like much to argue about, but getting points is the name of the game... I'll be watching my statement. I love this forum! |
Anything for Platinum Bonus Points not Posted?
Deleted, I found the answer in this thread -- sorry. I'll give CS a try, but hope I don't have to dig out the folios (2 stays at the Philadelphia Marriott didn't post the Platinum arrival bonus points).

I stayed at the FI in Burnsville, MN. last weekend. I did not get the plat welcoming gift, but since the manager did several other favors for us during the stay, I didn't press the point. I had forgotten some office supplies...including tape and packing materials for some packages. The manager said he'd look to see if he had any....then showed up at our room five minutes later with everything we needed.
To me, helping me out of a tough spot at 10pm the night before an important event was worth more than the 25 bucks. I'll make that trade anytime! Also I was using a $50 bonus bucks coupon, so I thought I was getting enough of a bargain. And when I checked out, I got points credit based on what the room rate would've been had I not used the bonus bucks. No complaints here! |
