Stats on Internet reliability at Res. Inn?
As a Marriott Rewards Platinum member a couple times over, I'm interested in trying to help Marriott understand exactly how bad the reliability and speed of the "High Speed Internet" at Residence Inn's provided by GoldenTree Communications is.
The hotel I'm at now (in Carmel, Ind) has been experiencing severe problems with even keeping the lines alive, along with very, very slow performance in the evening for the last three months I've been here. I had similar performance (but not the complete failures) at the Residence Inn Silicon Valley II in Sunnyvale, CA most of last summer. I'd be interested in collecting other performance/stability data to present to Marriott to get them to think about either finding a new provider, or at the very least renegotiating a new SLA that would guarantee bandwidth and minimize downtimes to hours rather than weeks. I'm not looking for Rants, just statistics.... If you're not comfortable posting replies, please PM me instead... Thanks (in advance), Steve |
RI In Salinas, CA - worked fine
Stayed at the RI in Salinas 12.20 - 12.23 and it worked well. I believe that GoldenTree is the ISP there too.

I've never had a problem at Residence Inn.
The highspeed was down once on a one night stay at the SHS in Alpharetta, GA. I sent an email to the hotel manager and he gave me an extra 2000 Marriott Reward points (my rate for the night was $49). |

Well, what do you think of the internet provider for high-speed Internet at a Res Inn in Akron not allowing the guests to the Marriott website reservation page or Marriott Rewards sign-in page?
They get the Marriott home page right as a 1st home page, but without a Public (read: Internet-facing and potentially vulnerable) IP address, you can't see the reservation page, nor the login to see your account balance! I've reported it to both the hotel and to the ISP, but it hasn't been fixed. It may have to do with pop-up window blocking, or may need a tunnel through the firewall. (Don't get me wrong. I love having high-speed internet. I also appreciate NOT having a "HHotel" chain that uses wireless Internet in an insecure fashion where you are asked to remove stronger encryption [to zilch] and then change the SSID to a common term referring to the hotel chain. Yuk!] |
