No concierge lounge

This has happened twice to me.

The REN Mayflower in DC
MAR Suites Washington Dulles

Neither of these properties have a lounge.
They offered me breakfest in the resturant.

No water, snacks, food, desert, etc.

Should I press it in the future and ask that they let me pick off the menu without charge?

No. That is not in the rules and you are not supposed to get that.

Nor are you entitled to such under either SPG, Hilton or Hyatt, despite your top tier status.

Be happy that you are an elite in those programs, rather than demanding something you are not entitled to receive in the first place. If you don't believe me, just read the rules of each and every program.

My 2 centavos.

The breakfast provided at the Mayflower, in lieu of a concierge lounge, is quite generous. It is served in a beautiful room, with choice of buffet or anything off the menu. In addition, in my experience the Mayflower is quite generous with upgrades to plats, including suites. All in all, to me, more than a fair trade for the lack of a C lounge. Also, the Marriott Suites I've stayed at do not have C lounges. The one in Atlanta also offers breakfast to plats in the restaurant with choice of buffet or menu.

Any of you GLD's who've stayed at the Mayflower on the weekends been given the comp breakfast?

Can't comment as to golds, but as to Sunday would point out to you that the comp breakfast (for plats--maybe for golds?) was the regular breakfast, not the expensive Sunday brunch spread. The restaurant's comp breakfast choices are quite generous.

I wouldn't press it, however I have stayed at the Marriott Suites in Bethesda and stated my preference to have breakfast in my room, and the GM said "No Problem, order from room service and I'll take care of it for you." ^

It never hurts to ask, :D

I understand your frustration but they are following the rules. As a plat, if the property does not have a lounge, they give you a breakfast cert (I have also been given a appetizer cert at some locations...but not the rule). If you find this unacceptable, I think your only recourse is to chose a location with a lounge. The website generally lets you know or you can call the 800 # and they will let you know.
