There are a couple cat 5 hotels near Disneyland with 1br suites for award. I believe you can upgrade to 2br for 5,000 points a night at the time of reservation.

But with that said, I've had more than one RI manager willing to add a 2-Br when I called (or had the Plat line call) and ask. Note they don't have to and more have said no than yes, but it isn't unheard of. So just because you don't see a 2-bedroom available for award doesn't mean you can't get one. |
I believe the Marriott Villas Doral in Miami is a Cat 5 property that has 2 bedroom villas. It is the certificate cost plus 2 upgrade certificates per night (10000 points). So a 7 night stay would run you your certificate + 70,000 points.

You might check out the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel. It was supposed to be an MVCI (timeshare) property but was built right when the timeshare bubble started to burst. So it was opened as a Marriott resort instead, but has a lot of 1, 2 and even 3 bedroom suites.
I haven't tried it out yet, but one of these days I'll make it down to the Keys area. :) |
Thank you all again for you thoughts and ideas.
I have just just booked the Protea hotel by Marriott Cape Town north. Catagory 5 hotel that has standard 1 bedroom suites on points. After speaking with the hotel, they upgrade to the two bedroom suite for just 385 rand per night. So roughly about £21 per night. Really pleased overall as cheapest non refundable rate was about £1700 for the week. |

Isn't South Africa in the middle of a really severe water shortage with a threat of actually running out of water? |
