Complete Map of Marriott Rewards Hotels (2018)

Here it is - A Complete Map of all Marriott Rewards Hotels, divided by Category as well as the Ritz-Carlton properties - Updated to Post-March 6th Category Changes

https://goo.gl/yo7Bxh - This Link is Outdated as of July 2018

EDIT:

Here's an updated link for post-August 2018 - https://goo.gl/y1M1Za

I had been using a map from 2016 to plan reward travel from a blog post by Drew Macomber on the travelisfree blog.

But with the 2 years of category changes and some hotels added to the portfolio, the 2016 map was no longer as accurate as it used to be for planning purposes.

When the 2018 category changes were announced, I really wanted to see what the extent of the damage was. Especially around the places I book award nights on a regular basis. Also, Category 5 hotels that are now Category 6.

Finally, there are some properties that apparently don't have a reward category, or are so new / haven't opened yet, so no category exists on the booking site. These are indicated with the Category 9s as small red dots. Any updates on those properties would be appreciated.
There were also some Ritz properties that did not display a Tier. These are also indicated with small red dots and are listed as a "Tier 0" for the purposes of this map. Again, if you know of their Tier/ rewards status, updates would be helpful.

Looks great! Alternatively, you can also use the starwood map.

That's pretty cool, I wish I had known this existed before. Sadly, the Starwood map is inaccurate by at least 2-3 years. It doesn't encompass any status changes in 2017 or 2018.

Test Case 1: Fairfield Inn in Tehachapi, CA is listed on starwood map as a Category 1 marriott property, but it's currently a Category 3. 7,500 points vs 15,000 points is an order of magnitude inaccurate. It's hard to plan when the map can't be trusted.

Test Case 2: Starwood map indicates 22 marriott properties in the state of CA at Category 1 or 2. Currently, there are no Category 1s in CA and only 3 total properties at Category 2 statewide. :(

Don't see any catagories listed however I did note a few properties not showing up such as in Mostar, Sarajevo, Rome and several in asia

I'm hearing that properties are missing from a few sources - I have tried to do the best job of ripping the data from the Marriott website, but some items may have slipped through the cracks. If you are familiar with a property and it's not listed here, Please let me know which properties those are. A few examples would help a long way in diagnosing why there are missing properties.

I checked into Mostar, and it is listed, just as one of the category 9 red dot extra hotels. This hotel is due to open May 2018, and it's unclear what tier/category it is. Thus I'm unable to place it properly on the map.

Mostar - what category?

As for Serajevo, the Courtyard and Residence Inn listed here appear on the map. What marriott property would you indicate as missing?

The link seems to be broken.

This map is a cool concept, but it seems that there are a ton of missing properties. For example I just looked at a few random places such as Guanacaste, Costa Rica and Kelowna, BC. The properties in those locations aren't listed.

Glad to see almost all the properties in Anchorage, AK go down. It was absurd to have all hotels (mostly 3/4 story run of the mill properties) being in cat 6 or higher.

Did you put all the filters on? I thought the same thing when I only saw 2 hotels in Rome but realized only cat 1-3 hotels were selected.

Marriott has updated the new categories charts

Has anyone known that the new categories charts that were searchable, released on June 28, has been disabled?

This is the link I bookmarked,

https://points-redemption.marriott.com/category-change

The table now is a black space. None of the headers is clickable. When you place the curser on the black space, you can tell the frame images in it by the little info box shown at the bottom of your browser window. They are images of different brands and actually when you click on the black space, it would open to a brand happened to be located at the position where you click.

I have tried different browsers to no avail - the new categories charts are completely removed.

Was the June 28th release not an official one but a leaked one, hence Marriott took it down?

So now we have no way to see what categories / point levels would be after August 1st...

hope this helps
