Convert cash booking to points

I have made a Members rate booking for which cancellation date has passed and I will check in to the hotel today. But I would now like to change this booking to a points booking.

Can this be done at the hotel at the time of check in or by calling the customer service?

The official answer is no.

YMMV.

The HOTEL can do almost anything it wants to, I've asked & done this at least twice, once a few days in advance via email and once the morning of checkout. I was blown away by the willingness to do so, I was PP at the time. But there is no obligation to do so.
