Why do points often take 7+ days to post?
Compared to other hotels and airlines Marriott points seem to often take FOREVER to post. I was just on a trip to DC, and my Delta miles posted for the first leg of the flight by the time I landed on the second leg. It's now been a week and my hotel still hasn't posted.
I know they say to wait 10 days before contacting them, but it just seems odd that in today's day and age it can take this long!:confused: |
It may vary by property - how quickly they do whatever it is they need to do in the back office to clear the stay out of their system and push it up to where MR processing takes place. I consistently check out of the same CY on Fridays, and the points are consistently there by Sunday morning or afternoon. I've certainly stayed at properties where the points took much longer to post (maybe about a week, as you experienced), though.

And to me, that's actually faster than, say, IHG, which never seems to post in less than about 5 days. At least Marriott can post in about 2 days, even if not all properties do so. IHG seems incapable of it.

Generally my nights/points post after 1-2 days after checkout.
Only 2 or 3 times a year I need to send in a missing stay request. |
