I'm spending time on both forums, but a # of my posts are to try & answer questions for SPG (or even Marriott) elites when they have questions about how the program(s) work or what's being done or explaining some of what is happening per the T&Cs. I'm sure your fellow FTers would appreciate it if you chose to do the same.

Checked again today and the SPG hotel was available again! Did an instant transfer of 60k MR to 20k SPG and booked instantly! Still cheaper than the 70k I was going to use for 2 nights at the Renaissance instead and we get to stay at the wedding site instead of having to take Uber back and forth.

It seems like a huge loophole, but why wouldn't I just do 25 stays at SPG next year and then match to MR Platinum? 25 stays at Marriott would probably net me 35 nights and I'd be Silver...I could probably do 25 stays by July/August.

So any harm in matching to SPG Gold now? Doesn't seem like it, but isn't it too good to be true? Not that the are really any useful benefits to SPG gold except higher point earning.

As a side note, I'd already be lifetime Gold if I'd stayed at SPG from the beginning. Only half way there in points in the MR program. Hard to believe how easy status is there.
