Moving from Hilton to Marriott

Hilton has drug their feet and will not be rolling out a promotion until March...however Southwest has teamed with Marriott for a rediculous offer for miles to SWA. With that being said, are there any quality discount codes for Marriott, as Ive never stayed at one before.

thanks!

Check the Sticky threads and you should see the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...ion-codes.html thread. It lists all the known publicly available codes.

thanks...any you'd recommend opposed to sifting through 51 pages?

Read the Wiki at the top of the thread page (not all the individual posts). It lists out all the codes in one concise list.

What Southwest promotion are you referring to? It's likely the MR travel package is a much better deal (almost always is), so you should look into that if the deal you are referring to is Southwest points instead of MR points for dollars spent on stays. YMMV.

2500 SWA miles for each stay up to 50k miles

I normally would start with the Marriott elite/rewards codes to see if any of those help. I sometimes have luck with the 'lpr' code as well. The 'npr' code has been known to sometimes have some good results too, but be very careful as sometimes it comes up with a non-public rate that requires an id or form. You don't want to get caught in that and end up paying rack rate for a room.

You might also peruse the list and see if any of them reference the city or location/region you are traveling to. If so, I'd give that one a try as well. Otherwise, I'd just plug them in one at a time to see if any of them offers me anything beneficial.

One thing I have noticed is that if my first few tries all come back with 'rate not available' messages, then quite often the hotel isn't offering many (or any) big discounts.

If you have a AAA membership, I'd also give that one a try. It might not give the best rate possible, but it will normally be lower than the regular rates and still be offered even when most of the others aren't.

If you haven't seen it already, you might want to check out the http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilto...g-diamond.html thread in the Hilton forum.

Another way to get discount is BRG for Marriott - check the sticky of the MR forum.
