First time walked - question about compensation
Had a reservation for the Courtyard in Orlando. Arrived and told "sorry, no king rooms, but you can have a king suite across the street at the Fairfield." I say "double is fine." Clerk says "actually, we're sold out." I say fine, Fairfield it is.
In my head I think there is compensation for being walked, but I can't remember if it is only for plats (I'm gold), and if it applies if I get walked to another Marriott property, so I (foolishly probably) don't say anything. Courtyard prints the key & I cross the street. Get to the room & it's not a suite, and it's not a king. I look up compensation. Do I get $100 for the walk and $50 for the wrong bed? Should I go to the desk in the am to ask for it, or do I ask online? And if at the desk, the FI or CY desk? Thanks. |
Go to the CY desk, demand the $100 and points for your trouble.

Not sure if you talked to the FD at the CY, but our did your own research.
Ultimate Reservation Guarantee If for some reason we’re unable to honor your reservation, we’ll pay for your accommodations that night at a nearby hotel and compensate you for the inconvenience. To be eligible, you must provide your Marriott Rewards membership number when making a reservation. Compensation varies by hotel brand. [ALL LEVELS] You are also entitled to $100. Only Platinums get 90,000 points for being walked from a Courtyard. Guaranteed Room Type At Fairfield Inn the compensation is only $25. I don't believe you will be able to collect both. When making a reservation, be sure to note both your Marriott Rewards membership number and room/bed preferences. At locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, we'll always honor your bed type request. Outside U.S. and Canada, smoking/nonsmoking preferences are honored based on availability; exact bed sizes may vary. If guarantee is not met, guest compensation applies. [GOLD/PLATINUM] Let us know how you make out. Regards, RIP... |

Did the CY pay for your first night at the FFI? They should have. And you should also get the $100 as well. Note that even if your MR# wasn't in the reservation I do believe the hotel still has to pay for your first night at an other hotel if they walk you (as that is not an elite benefit but a general walk benefit for everyone.) |
