New Marriott.com front page (and other website changes)

UGH! And now it just got slower and harder to click around!

UGH UGH UGH!

(Thanks for letting me get that out)

PhillyPhlyer40 Jul 13, 2013 2:30 pm

Just spoke to webchat...all of the "brand specific" pages are down..this means no affiliate links! :td:

I'm not happy about this site either. Lets hope it gets better and starts loading faster in the near future

The speed is a particular pet peeve...

Wouldn't it make sense to design a site that could load through Gogo? It's as though the Web designers don't know the word functional. I tried to purchase tickets while in the air on Friday night, but finally gave up and went to the AirTran site to finish buying the tickets. The much simpler AirTran site loads quickly.

Getting efficiently coded webpages from 3rd party outsourced development companies in India is not going to happen.

Interesting thing, I saw the new website a few hours ago and now its the previous look on a different computer.

PhillyPhlyer40 Jul 18, 2013 12:06 pm

Out with the NEW, in with the OLD!

And...now we are back to the old website...

DYKWIA Jul 19, 2013 10:52 am

Is the website completely broken at the moment? I've tried Chrome and IE, both of which are not rendering the site correctly.

roadwarrior365 Jul 19, 2013 10:55 am

I wish they would finish building the new website instead of this constant back and forth. The old one in my opinion works just fine.

Appears so. I cannot log in. Tried multiple browsers.

I can't log in, either. (I thought I was doing something wrong at first!) :)

tide Jul 19, 2013 11:15 am

Mobile app works so I used that to cancel a reservation.

I'm not able to log in but I can still search for hotels.

Uber-wonky

I can't even find where to log in...

I noticed the new layout, only to revert back to the old layout a day or so later.

sammyindc Jul 24, 2013 1:58 pm

What's happening with the website? Was the new layout just a test? Anyone knows anything?

Newman Aug 7, 2013 10:30 pm

If the Marriott higher-ups would spend less time trying to fix a website that isn't broken, and more time working on getting us our BOGO back, we would all be much happier campers......

Every time Marriott announces an "upgrade" to their website, it turns out to be a disappointment at best, and a disaster at worst.

BKKLEE Aug 7, 2013 10:31 pm

I wouldn't count on ever getting BOGO's back........

And some of us aren't counting on getting back the website that wasn't broken that Marriott decided to fix ;)

Cheers.

New page for me too. Crazy and it's not working properly.

Now back to the old design. Color me shocked.

CPRich Aug 13, 2013 5:38 pm

New design for me on FF, same old site on IE.

Though once I get past the new main screen, everything else seems unchanged.

rylan Aug 13, 2013 7:35 pm

Ugh, logged in and have an entirely new home page... and of course things aren't working.

Lots of open/wasted space that I have to scroll around to find things. Apparently the site is also optimized for a large high resolution screen. Pain in the a$$ on a laptop.

Safti Aug 13, 2013 7:52 pm

I am showing a new front page and am having trouble navigating. I tried booking a hotel in Montreal and when I attempt an AAA rate, they switch to every hotel in ALL of Canada that has an AAA rate. I called customer care and they said that apparently half of all MR members have been switch but they left the other half with the old booking program. Lots of glitches and filters are not working. I had to call to make a booking and I did lots of complaining. Arrgh!

rylan Aug 14, 2013 6:05 am

I saw the same problem with trying to book special rates. It searches the entire state even though I put in the city like I always do.

nevansm Aug 14, 2013 6:02 pm

Ok, their website programmers are incredibly stupid, this is getting ridiculous. Design something and stick to it.

+1 I had the same issue. Also resets back to the whole state every time I try to modify the search with a different special rate. It is a big nuisance.

New Marriott.com front page

Logged into Marriott.com - new, simplier, clean front webpage.
Gone is the Apple style flip cards.

cova Aug 15, 2013 7:24 am

Looks like another thread on the subject.

Here we go AGAIN! (Website changes)

Come on moderators - why don't you change these titles to be clearer.

How clear is the title of the thread "here we go again". That does not define the subject. I am not sure if (website changes is that clear either).

I think the only big change is the first page. Why not say that in the title.

BKKLEE Aug 15, 2013 7:26 am

probably cause this is the 3rd or 4th change in almost as many days.........
and when you put in a city and it changes your search to a state or country it really SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! why can't they just leave it alone instead of making it WORSE?????????

I have no problem logging in and the only difference I see is the first page at marriott.com. Seems cleaner to me.

First off, why didn't you use the "notify mods" button?

Second off, now I must start a new, new thread-now that the hotel specific page has changed...or should I cry to the mods to change the title?

Back ON topic, looks like they are going back to the OLD style page....AGAIN!

What the heck????

lucycan Aug 15, 2013 6:43 pm

New Marriott site has some BUGS

So was logged into the Marriott site tonight and right next to my name is a LinkedIn profile picture of a customer of mine. How does this happen????

TommyC80 Aug 15, 2013 6:45 pm

um...have you run a virus scan on your computer lately?

I agree that the original intent of the thread was for something else than the new front page. But it evolved to that. But my experience is that the mods will combine it anyway.

Again - what does "here we go again" have to do with the topic. You can't do searches off that title - which is what everyone wants you to do.

I would have thought that here we go again means increase in reward levels.

airportdrunk Aug 17, 2013 3:41 pm

The constant updates being rolled out on the site have been annoying... A lot of quirky behavior, like searching for rooms in "New York, NY" and having the site redirect it to a search for "NY, US" which does not pull up anything useful...

DYKWIA Aug 18, 2013 3:40 am

Gone back to the old layout again for me.

JeepGuyDE Aug 18, 2013 7:38 am

When I type in SFO in the location box - the result is: Choose from 3273 hotels across 13 brands. The first choice is a FI in Athens AL.
