Why would a hotel split a reservation?

We have a reservation for two rooms for next week for 5 nights and I just logged in and saw that it ahs been split into two reservations, one for each room. Any reason why a hotel would do that? Maybe they are working on a super awesome upgrade for us and they need to split it up to accomplish that. :-)

reservations are automatically split by the CRS (MARSHA) as the hotels local computer system can not handle more than 1 room per GNR....just a limitation of the systems (anyone remember Series 1? no they aren't still running but that's what the technology for Full Service is based upon....the other brands are newer but still old by today's standards)
