Elite Rewards
The Marriott veterans please excuse this question as it may seem quite simplistic. Hilton offers its elites the VIP rewards where you can book a reward stay a year prior to arrival at any hotel you choose as long as they have reward rooms available. Marriott, on the other hand, allows for elite rewards only on select hotels and then it does it by calandar quarters. I checked the website and they still do not have spring rewards posted. Am I missing something? I usually try and plan vacations 9 months out but with Marriott that's nearly impossible to do unless you use the standard reward. Is that the way this system works and if so what are the benefits of elite status for booking rewards?

Unless I am misunderstanding your question, the website normally puts award rooms in the computer at 50 weeks out. I know that the European award rooms are loaded in the system on Sunday mornings for the entire week at 50 weeks out.
Depending upon where you have been checking, the 9 months out at very popular places may actually be too late for getting the saver awards. I have found that true of the Hawaiian hotels.
On a side note, I was playing with the system the other day and was amazed that the Paris Champs Elysee was available for every day on an award in March. I always plan a year in advance so I've never checked the "tougher" sites closer to checkin.
Hope that clears it up.

Actually, I was trying to understand if Marriott had other Elite Rewards (other than those that posted under the Elite Marriott Rewards Pointsaver section of the website). These post quarterly and its hard to use them on short notice.
My question, which was poorly phrased, compared Hiltons VIP rewards which are good year round - I was wondering if Marriott had similar rewards that I was not aware of.

Sounds as though your question is something like this:
If I want to make a reservation 50 weeks in advance (or some other extended advance period) will I have access to more award inventory if I am an elite MR member than if I'm not an elite?
I believe the answer to that is no. No special inventory.

Actually, I think what the original poster is asking is (but maybe I misunderstood): "I want to stay at X hotel 9 months from now but they're only showing elite pointsaver awards for the current quarter. How do I find out if there will be any pointsaver awards 9 months from now?"
The answer is to call Marriott guest services and they can tell you if that particular property is offering pointsaver awards for the time you want to stay. I was told this information is available before it's actually posted on their website.
