compared to what, compared to 1st quarter, last year?

back seat Jul 3, 2003 7:49 am

Flat or trending down.

bankruptcy Jul 3, 2003 8:06 am

Travel will be up, but fewer hotel nights. Reason is my 4 month old daughter who hate to be away from. The reult is I make more day trips or single night stays where I used to stay 4- 5 nights in a row. I will definitely lose the platinum status I have had for 3 years, and am happy to do so.

scotty00 Jul 3, 2003 8:24 am

About the same, though it's still a high number of trips and nights/trip. Right now I travel to our client site every week and usually stay 3 nights each week (Mon-Thurs)...and always stay at the same Marriott.

SkiAdcock Jul 3, 2003 9:01 am

same or slightly up.

same

baglady Jul 3, 2003 9:57 am

Way down - I am stopping all travel after the end of this month due to pregnancy, and won't resume until November, which will be light. But a good reason, nonetheless! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I would give up my platinum status immediately if my job would offer me the possibility of working remote on an on-going basis allowing me to be with the family more often.

Unfortunately (and I truly mean this) my flights and nights away are up from last year. Expecting to fly 200,000 actual miles and about 140 nights at Marriott in 2003.

Flat to down.

No job change for me. It's just a reflection of the overall business trends. After five years of Platinum, I will be lucky to make gold this year.

Way up.

Up

bhatnasx Jul 3, 2003 12:03 pm

I'm planning on them going up - I'm a leisure traveller though so my dollars are mostly weekend rates, not weekday rates.

jclip Jul 3, 2003 12:08 pm

Flat...which, since I started the year with no status and am now Gold, should be just peachy for Marriott. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

alan32 Jul 3, 2003 12:33 pm

Flat to slightly down....good chance of making Gold though.

dan1431 Jul 3, 2003 1:06 pm

Slightly UP

zakami Jul 3, 2003 1:09 pm

I would say about the same or even slightly higher. But I really really hope it comes down a bit !

dingo Jul 3, 2003 1:16 pm

Up for me. I see continued growth in our business and industry.

ohmark Jul 3, 2003 2:37 pm

Same.

Cholula Jul 3, 2003 4:59 pm

Flat for me. I travel every week as it is and unless they invent new weeks, I can't increase my travel.

goldarm Jul 3, 2003 7:40 pm

Travel and nights will be up about 20% for me over first half......new projects and solid business

DADISGARYK Jul 3, 2003 8:59 pm

slightly down.

I had 115 nights last year and was on the road too much...going to slow down just a little this year

But you can tell the folks in the home office it's NOT because I am staying anywhere else.

Up by about 20%

bdschobel Jul 5, 2003 12:35 pm

Flat or maybe slightly down.

Bruce

kiwibigdave Jul 5, 2003 1:03 pm

Down. Just 38 nights in the first half of the year but a general personal reluctance to be away from home any more will see this fall. I'll probably not make the extra 12 mights to reach gold status.

yyzflyer Jul 5, 2003 1:08 pm

Should be about the same, although Marriott will be getting more of my business than during the first half. (Have to requalify for that mighty Silver status, after all. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif)

Socrates, are you a Marriott lurker? If so, please read my post re not getting the 500 Welcome Gift points!

I expect my travel to be slightly down from 1st half of the year. But, a lot depends on my customers and how demanding they are. I might be gone even more.

mhoek74 Jul 9, 2003 8:44 pm

Down...we're cutting back, trying to save on travel expenses.

BillMorrow Jul 9, 2003 9:32 pm

Down significantly, probably will only be Gold next year (rather than Platinum).

Down unfortunately. My company is requiring that we conduct most of our training presentations using Present On Line rather than on site as we used to.

GG Jul 10, 2003 8:57 am

It will be way up. We had a practically unprecedented but much needed hiatus in travel March-May this year. I can't say I'm looking forward to being gone from home so much.

Hotel nights will tend slightly more to Marriott this year than last, since Marriotts are at major convention venues this year.
