Townplace cancellation policy

Can someone help interpret's Townplace Suites Milpitas rate rules for cancellation?

Cancellation Policy
1 NTS RM & TX CXL PENALTY -AS FIRST NIGHT PAYMENT
CANCELLATION PERMITTED
UP TO 1DAYS BEFORE ARRIVAL

I assume if I call 1 day ahead, I can cancel my reservation without penalty. If I call the night before, that should be sufficient right?

Long time lurker here...decided to rack up some nights with the take 2 promo.

Yes, cancelling the night before is fine. In fact, most hotels are quite forgiving as far as cancel times go(resort/intl hotels and special events excluded.) A late cancellation is better than no cancellation!

I stayed at this hotel quite a bit last year. It is definitely a 24 hour notice for cancellation.

This cancelation approach is being pushed hard in California (Bay area in particular) lots of FTers are caught off guard by it or the prepaid rates.

Mgmt told me to call them direct if I had to make any changes in my reservation, cancellation etc and they would take care of me. Its a nice hotel, very accessible and as is typical for Towneplace, no breakfast.

You are correct

If you do not cxl at least 1 day before arrival you'll end up being billed a no-show for 1 days room and tax
