Marriott Monterey, CA

I'm on a long-term assignment in Monterey and am looking for a new hotel (currently at the ES Seaside). Has anyone stayed at this property? What are the amenities for business travellers? I know the location is great but haven't been able to track down even a single piece of customer feedback. Any comments would be appreciated.

You must be getting desparate Bingo, thought you were not a Marriott Fan?

Good luck, wish I could help but I haven't stayed there, although I have heard good things about it from our L.A. counterparts.

Sorry I can't be more specific

It's been a while since I stayed there, but here goes.

It's a nice location, very convenient right in the middle of town. You might also check out the Hyatt. It's on the other side of 101. The golf course comes up to the back side of the hotel.

I had a one-night stay there about 18 months ago. After so many hotels, it's difficult to remember sometimes.

My recollections are:
-good location for walking around, centrally located
-as a Marriott gold, I was upgraded to a water view and received an amenity!
-your typical Marriott consistent level of service and quality of room
-high speed internet access (didn't get charged for some reason)
-several decent wineries to visit in the area
-had dinner at the Pacific Edge restaurant in the Hyatt Highlands Inn. A wonderful meal.

We've stayed there four times. No serious complaints at all, and three upgrades-to-suites: on a one nighter, a really speccy suite with a great view; the others were to junior suites with not-great views, but we were working the entire time anyway and didn't care about the view. Staff is generally friendly.

There's now just a standard Champions sportz bar, and maybe a coffee shoppe?. But if you like that sort of thing, check out the British pub across the street. Of course zillions of other wonderful restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed there several times. Very nice hotel and I would certainly stay there again. Across the street from the Doubletree and both are adjacent to the convention center. This is a much nicer property with a good restaurant. It is a downtown location, however, so if you want a resort property, you have to try the Hilton, Hyatt, or some others. Close to a lot of good restaurants. Even though it's not a big town, there's a parking charge.
