Marriott Paris?
Why is this property so expensive? Any way to get a lower rate. Was quoted 475 Euro.

Location/amenities. Very nice hotel in very exclusive area of Paris. Extremely difficult to obtain "reasonable" rate as hotel is relatively small and popular with tourists and business people

At certain times of the year, the Four Seasons George V (which is just off the Champs Elysees) goes for about the same as the Marriott.

I never stayed at this property, but use the restaurant... Poor food and service...

Well, some good, some bad..... I think its time to move on to another chain of properties...

You will find much better hotels for less money. This is nice hotel but over priced, much like the Paris Park Hyatt. Unless you are billing a customer for the hotel room, it is best to stay some place esle.

I don't understand how you can comment on an hotel which has not yet opened (Park Hyatt Paris)?
I'd say that the Marriott is a nice hotel but there are better value hotels in Paris and there are more luxurious properties in Paris. Marriott Paris sells its location!

Any comments on the Paris Renaissance? I tried booking a 713 award for the Marriott Paris but there was no availability for months. I was able to get a reservation for the Renaissance - this is a category 5 property.

PG: if you will do a search you will finds lots of helpful info about the Renaissance La Defense. We discussed it pretty thoroughly several times.
The main problem some had with it was it's location (out 2 or 3 subway stops) in a business district. Many posters said that the lack of a typical "Parisian" neighborhood would detract from the ambience.
People were very opinionated about this.
I stayed there on an award summer of 2000. My family liked it fine and did not find it inconvenient at all. It was quite nice, especially for the price! Unless you visit Paris frequently, you are most likely not going to be around the hotel very much. There is just too much to see and do.

No, this hotel is not in the 16th. It is about 5 kilometers west of the Arc of Triomphe outside city limits in a highly developed business area known as La Dfense. La Dfense is pretty much likle any downtown/financial district of a North American city.
