How long does it usually take for points to post?

What is the general experience on how long it takes for Marriott points to post to your account? I'm finding that even though my MR number shows up on the check-out stubs and i'm practically stapling my card to the front desk, it still takes 2+ weeks for me to see stays and points credited to my account.

On the other hand, Starwood seems to be able to credit things much quicker - i've had stays where points were credited the next day.

* North American, Australian, European stays in Marriott: 2 weeks+, in Renaissance 1 week+
* Thailand stays (JW Bangkok or Riverside) never (6 times never in the last 3 years), only after sending in the documentation (a year ago no documentation was neccessare, the credit request was simple by just emailing Marriott about the missing miles, the reservation# and the amount spent).

It takes "EXACTLY" four weeks after I get tired of not seeing them on the online account review and fax the copy of the receipt to someone in Utah.

Is that four weeks after you stay, or four weeks after you fax?

I made Gold with a stay ending early November, and in the hopes of getting the on-line account to reflect the new status (free breakfasts, etc., are riding on this) faxed a copy of the receipt to Marriott Rewards in Utah with an explanatory note, but still nothing has posted.

You're right - Starwood posts often within 24 hours, why so hard with Marriott?

Free Breakfasts? at a Marriott? I think maybe only at the Fairfield Inn, and if they told you THAT was a perk..... O well....

At this time I'm really pissed off on Marriott Rewards. I have faxed them TWICE already documentation on a Canadian stay in April, and still not received any credit for it.

Also for my recent Renaissance-stay in Germany I have not received credit so far, allthough I made sure that my MR-number is printed on the receipt I received. It's excactly like the last two years where no automatic credit showed up.

From that experience I doubt that I continue to stay with Marriott and affiliates. I have never had such a hassle to get credit with either Hilton or Starwood in the past. Points there usually post a day or two later...

Greetings - Dirk

My Marriott, Renaissance and Courtyard stays typically post in about five business days...only once did this not occur.

Also, I agree that the Starwood Chain post much faster...

It took one month after my stay at the Renaissance St. Thomas to post. I waited 2 weeks for it to post online then I faxed them and finally received credit about 2 weeks later.

Yet the stay at the Marriott Norfolk, took one week to post.

I just saw this thread...I have posted a new one here...

Usually they are quiet fast on posting points...but for some strange reason..my stays/points did not post after 11/9/01.

Semantics....

I'm with Underpressure on this one. The stuff in the concierge lounges can hardly be called breakfast!

I guess it depends on where you are. In Europe (Germany at least), it's a basic continental breakfast.

No hot eggs, sausage/bangers, kippers, or fried tomatoes, but rolls, cold cuts, cheese, marmalade/jam, coffee, juice, etc. Close enough for me.
