** On or before May 30th, 2018** - ALL Chase Marriott cardholders that held the card as of March 15th, 2018, will receive:
** CHASE HAS CLOSED ACCOUNTS AS OF MARCH 15, 2018 **
By now you should have been notified that your Marriott Rewards® Visa® Credit Card will be closing on March 15, 2018. Here's what you need to know:
• CONTINUE EARNING.
You will still be able to continue to use your Marriott Rewards Visa Credit Card and earn points on eligible purchases through March 14, 2018. After that date, you will no longer be able to make purchases or earn points on your Marriott Rewards Visa Credit Card.
• USE YOUR POINTS.
This does not impact your Marriott Rewards account. You will still be able to access and use any points and benefits that you have earned.
If you have paid an annual fee for your card any time between April 2017 and December 2017, Chase Canada has said that they will give you a prorated rebate of the fee back as a statement credit on your account.
If, however, your annual renewal fee is due between January 2018 and March 2018, you will NOT have to pay it. You may continue to use your card until March 15, 2018
As a cardholder, you will still receive your 15 Elite Night Credits and Free Night Certificate, regardless of your anniversary date. They will be deposited into your Marriott Rewards account after March 14, 2018.
Existing Chase Marriott Visa cardholders will be given a special signup to the Amex SPG CC for 25,000 welcome points and $120/yr annual fee.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Information below is left here for reference only, so that others who applied before the deadline can refer to the info.
If you find a working application link buried in this thread and apply through it don't be surprised if you do not get the advertised welcome bonuses.

Tips:
- Go to marriott.com and apply for a Marriott Rewards account first, and have the member/account number ready during application. If you did NOT do this then Chase will create an account for you - look for the numbers on the lower left of your new Visa card, it may be displayed there.
- Spend at least $1 on your new card by the 9th of the month, so that the txn posts by the 11th onto your online account at Chase (https://online.chasecanada.ca).
- Seemingly, all Canadian Chase Marriott Visa accounts cycle on the 11th of the month. Points are posted by Chase to Marriott.com and the 50K points will appear by the 18th or 19th of the month.
- You will see the points posted on page 3 of your paper statement when it arrives in the postal mail. Chase does not provide Canadians with an online PDF statement, only transactions. If by the 19th you don't see points posted, double-check the Marriott Rewards number on your paper statement to ensure it matches your true account number, in case Chase messed up and created a new MR account on your behalf.
- When setting up payment for the card at online banking, look for "MARRIOTT VISA" as the card name.
- If using this card outside of Canada, ensure you prime the PIN onto the card at a CHIP/PIN terminal while IN Canada, before you leave for your trip. You cannot prime the card while in Europe (for eg.)
- YMMV, but if you decide to cancel this card, it is advisable to do it WELL before the anniversary date, as Chase may not pro-rate a refund.
- If you plan to use this card outside of Canada (no FX fees), you should call Chase to let them know, so your card won't get locked. I've never called when using it on extended travel in the US, but for sure I would call and let them know if I was going to use it elsewhere (Europe, Asia, Antarctica).
- If you log out of MARRIOTT.COM and notice an 80,000 point offer, it is a USA-only offer.
- You can find List of Marriott Hotels and their Categories via below searches

While I respect your opinion as moderator, I think we should be cut some slack here considering we have about 10 days left with this card. Some of us are in mouring and it helps to chat about finding a replacement. You can shut 'er down on the 15th...

Gave the WiKi section one last(?) update, before this thread goes dormant/closed once the card is closed down, March 15, 2018.
After churning this card 6x together with my wife, I actually don't currently own this card anymore. So if the info I provided in the WiKi (collected from the web) doesn't match the information you've received from Chase Canada regarding card closures, feel free to correct and update, thanks.
Thanks for the memories - the multiple Cat-4 welcome e-certificates, the occasional bonus anniversary Cat-5 e-certificates after cancellation, and the several FX-free purchases, cash advances and car rentals outside of Canada.

(Sorry I'm sure this was discussed... I just can't find the info...)
I started my card in August 2017.
I got my first year free, Marriott says, so no refund for me.
Am I gonna get an anniversary first year credit?

I have not received a prorated annual fee refund nor the "cancellation" free night on both my wife's and my Chase Marriott Visa cards. Cards were opened in May 2017 and July 2017, respectively.
EDIT: Doh! Never mind, I never paid an annual fee in the first year!

Frustrating sign up with SPG/Amex
I got the mailing sent to Marriott Visa card owners offering an exclusive of 25K SPG points (75K Marriott Points) to sign up for the SPG/Amex card. I followed all the appropriate links and applied. I then called SPG/Amex because I wanted to make sure that I would be receiving the 'special' offer with the 25K SPG points and wanted to know if I was approved. I called the number suggested on the application. First got through to India and then they transferred me to Phillipines. All they told me was that I was approved for $4500 and would only get 20K SPG points. They asked if I had followed the links which I did properly. There is no way to call and sign up. Must be done online. I'm not sure what to do about this. Any suggestions?

If you applied using the link, what makes you think you WOULDNT get the points as applied? Why go through all the trouble? I'm not worried.

I see this mentioned, but can't find the source:
My anniversary date is in November, will I get some sort of 'qualifying nights' credit for 2018? If so, is it some sort of pro-rata, or the full 15 for 2018?
Thanks!
T.

A Genuine Question from a Confused Cardholder
I want to start off by saying that I can honestly say I have never loved a credit card before this one. The free Forex? The juiced up 5X points per dollar for every stay? The 15 night credits each year? Free night certificates. Oh how I will miss you, Marriott Rewards Visa.
So following everyone's advice here, I signed up for the SPG American Express. I am Marriott Platinum (and now apparently, automatically SPG Platinum).
I have a ton of Marriott stays ahead of me this year. I have every intention of transferring all Starpoints to Marriott Rewards using the 1 to 3 ratio and zero intention of collecting Starwoods points.
According to the SPG American Express credit card brochure entitled "Welcome to cardmembership" I just received in the mail this morning "Platinum Preferred Guest members earn 3 Starpoints for every eligible US dollar spent at over 1,500 participating hotels and resorts". (see page 6,lines 8 to 11).
First question. At the present time, does use of the SPG card at a Marriott qualify for 3 points per US dollar?
Second question. If the answer to the first question is no, then I would be foolish to stay at a Marriott using my new SPG card if I can easily stay at a Starwood hotel and receive 3 times the points benefit. Do you agree or have I missed something?

The Marriott visa gave 5 points per CAD on top, the SPG gives 2 SPG per CAD instead (comes out ahead for Canadian stays, is behind is forex due to foreign exchange fee)

I share your love of the Marriott Visa, and am equally mourning its loss. Actually, this couldn't have come at a worse time, as I got the notice just before leaving for a 6-week trip to Europe. No time to apply for an alternative, so I'll be using it up to the bitter end, then will have to get another Visa once I get home. Really, really bad timing...

I got an email from Marriott which confirms we all get our full 15 night credit. It reads:
As a cardholder, you will still receive your 15 Elite Night Credits and Free Night Certificate, regardless of your anniversary date. They will be deposited into your Marriott Rewards account after March 14, 2018.
