Rome

Has anyone been able to book an award in Rome lately? I started trying 50 weeks ahead for April, and it's not available. Rooms are available for paying customers, so I tried to book an anytime award. I had to phone Rome and was told they did not participate. Just as a test everyday for a week I've been tring to book whatever date is 50 weeks ahead, and nothing is available.

They don't participate??? What? How can they NOT PARTICIPATE?

Perhaps it was a misunderstanding about participating? I've got reservations for an award in August that was made in April which was confirmed by email and phone with Marriott reservations.

I'd call Marriott and ask the policy of how far ahead they release rooms.

Rome said they did not participate in the anytime rewards. I called Marriott customer service and they said they they were having trouble with the Rome Marriott, because it was a franchise, and actually had legal action against it. I'm glad to hear you can aget lucky and get a room.

Wow, that doesn't sound good about the Rome Marriott! Legal action against them? I booked a 6 night award stay there for next March and that was done over two months ago.

Hmmmm, doesn't sound good. I have a reservation with the 713 reward for 7 nights. Anyone had experience when you show up with the award and confirmed reservation from Marriott and the hotel turns it down?

Thanks.

I was recently able to book a 7 day stay using a 713 award for next May 2002. I am not aware of any problems with the hotel other thann I believe they only allow up to a maximum of 2 rooms for any particular time period for award purposes. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has actually had any particular problem in using a guest stsy award.

Just back from the Grand Flora. Very nice property and no problem at all using the 7 night award. We had room 605 which has a nice view of the park from both the room and the tub. THe location is also nice but a little walk to the metro although the 116 bus is across the street. Another tip is that there is an underground tunnel by the bus stop that has a supermarket with good selections and access to the Spanish steps and metro stop.
